Daily Inspiration: Meet Boston Doughty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Boston Doughty.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was 10 I was caught taking a whoopie pie from a deli in Winslow, Maine. The owner asked why I took it and I said to feed me and my sister because we were very poor due to addictions my mother acquired. The owner Gerry of big G’s which is now closed after 38 yrs told me and my sister to come in every day for lunch. Gerry fed us for over 2 yrs and the inspiration allowed me to brainstorm and come up with my own recipe. I never evolved with my pies over there because they are sold heavily. I’d love to share the rest of the story but I have to save something to share : )

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was in state custody from the age of 12 to 18. In residential treatment centers, foster homes, shelters. I did adult prison time for addiction and lived a hard life. I got out of prison on 12-12-12. I moved to Minnesota to pursue a music career and never left. The success began for me when I struggled through several business’s that were out of my control, Covid for example. Today I live for God and helping others. There’s more but I can’t tell you it all yet : )

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
All I can really say is my creativity bone in being an entrepreneur from a young age trying to find something to love! I’m a musician, restaurant trainer, home inspector, baker, karaoke specialist and a few other things but getting through my life struggles to succeed like I am today is pretty amazing. God is good!

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Absolutely my biggest help has been God however musicians like Tupac Shakur, Johnny cash and life experiences has really been my biggest support! Where words fail, music speaks and believing is everything when you got faith in yourself and someone greater than you. Humility is wonderful!
