Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryce And Kim Holmgren.
Hi Bryce and Kim, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
This is copy of story that was published in another magazine but it tells the story well:
Tucked gently back onto the edge of Willmar, MN, overlooking Solomon Lake, you will find an 80-acre estate known as Stonewall Farms. The scenic experience includes golden pastures, seemingly enchanted forests, and gentle lake shores. Upon entering the property it is common to be greeted by swans flying overhead, deer grazing in the fields, and the sweetest English Creme retriever. Can you picture it?
Thirty years prior, this property was owned by a young family who planted the pines and raised their family. As they decided to sell the land, their ideal buyer would be a family that would make the most of the acreage and raise their family there too. Their dream came true when the Holmgren family arrived in 1994. This land has a legacy of generosity that extends through the decades. The property was sold to the Holmgrens in pieces as they could afford it and the money from the sale was donated to the Bible League. If you visit the property today, you will see large stone monuments placed on each portion of the land as it was acquired to commemorate the significance of this gesture and what the Holmgrens believed to be the faithfulness of God. Hence the name Stonewall.
Bryce Holmgren, an anesthesiologist by day, and Kim, a homeschooling mom of 11, originally built the barn to breed Friesian horses in 2010. As time passed and they raised their children, eight of them held their wedding receptions in the barn. This sparked interest from other friends and family and the requests for weddings and events continued.
In 2015 their son, Drew, finished his degree in landscape architecture. When he returned home, he and Kim began to dream. They made the decision to move the horses and turn the barn into an event venue. The east and west additions were added as well as a walk bridge, stonewalls, the Pinewood Pavilion and our guests’ favorite, the Pinewood Cathedral, our wedding site in the pines with the lake for a backdrop. The entire family worked together to create the details of the venue known today as Stonewall Farms. They host events such as weddings, prom, church events, and corporate meetings.
The owners of this venue value serving their clients and offering love over everything else and that is their greatest asset. It is quite possibly one of West Central Minnesota’s most beautiful jewels.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“Overall, it’s been a smooth road. Of course, there were some learning curves as we grew and took on the responsibility of managing the grounds, but nothing major. We’ve worked hard to make everything as functional and well-maintained as possible pivoting and being flexible as needed.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Bryce is an anesthesiologist and Kim holds a degree in teaching. Together, they raised 11 children on the farm, with Kim homeschooling them all. Today, their children have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, architects, dentists, construction workers and devoted mothers. The Holmgren family is grateful for the wonderful staff they have and for the blessings The Lord as bestowed on the land.
Their son Drew, a landscape architect, began dreaming with his mom about what the property could become. That vision soon became a family project, with every member of the Holmgrens working together to create what is now Stonewall Farms.
While they are proud of all they’ve accomplished, their greatest joy is their family and their 29 beloved grandchildren. One of the farm’s most recognizable features is the presence of Friesians roaming the pasture, a nod to the barn’s original purpose as a breeding facility for the majestic Friesians.
What truly sets Stonewall Farms apart is its setting and scenery—natural beauty crafted by God Himself. The Holmgrens have remained true to who they are and to preserving the land’s authenticity. While many venues have emerged in recent years, few can match the beauty, peace, and generational heart of this farm.

The foundation of our vision, mission, and goals comes from one source above all—the Bible. We believe that God’s love and guidance create the strongest framework for a thriving marriage. On a couple’s wedding day, we serve with wholehearted devotion, knowing that Christ-centered marriages are built to last. When couples place Him at the heart of their union, they walk away from their wedding filled with joy, anchored in peace, and ready to face life’s journey together with confidence and grace.
