Hi Dan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Great idea! I make my life and living as a songwriter, musician, theatrical sound designer, and media composer. Music has always been a part of my life. And I’m going to keep making music after I die.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Interesting question. I keep trying to get away from the feelings of better and worse. Of course, there have been struggles. If you buy some of my music, you can hear all about them. Also, when I lived on Sunset Boulevard, this guy would be out on the sidewalk every day violently hitting this metal garage door with an aluminum baseball bat. And one day, he told me: ‘you can die from laughing if you hold it in too long.’

Thanks for your curiosity! I’m a songwriter, musician, theatrical sound designer, and media composer. I write/record songs, play shows, play in other people’s bands, create sonic experiences for theater shows, and compose music for film and TV. This life and living have rewarded me greatly with many beautiful friends, collaborators, and experiences worldwide. I specialize in listening closely. That’s what I’m known for. I’m pretty proud of that. I don’t know what “sets me apart from others” been more focused lately on figuring out what connects me to them.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Thanks for the opportunity to reflect. Capitalism is pretty gross, and our larger systems of care are broken. I’m grateful to have meaningful and close relationships with people in my community.
