Today we’d like to introduce you to Devon Alwin-Rodriguez.
Hi Devon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been a nurse for over 13 years, with nearly six of those dedicated to specializing in Aesthetic Nursing. From the very beginning of my nursing journey, I knew I wanted to blend my strong medical background with my long-standing passion for aesthetics—and I’m grateful to be living that vision today. Along the way, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to learn from inspiring mentors and powerful women who have played a huge role in my growth and success, both personally and professionally.
I began my aesthetic career in a small med spa, where I built a solid foundation before taking the leap to branch out on my own just over a year ago. Starting my own practice has been, without a doubt, the best decision I’ve ever made. I specialize in meeting people where they are at, both literally and figuratively. Aesthetics is an ever evolving industry and I feel so blessed to be trusted in helping people feel confident and refreshed without looking “overdone”. As I prepare to enter graduate school, I’m excited to continue growing my little dream organically, just as I always intended. I can’t wait to see what the future holds and am so thankful for the journey so far.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business can be scary and challenging, especially when it’s completely uncharted territory. There were many moments when I felt like I had no idea what I was doing on the business side—but I trusted myself to lean in to the challenge and call on my resources. Looking back, every challenge was worth it, and I wouldn’t change a thing. I am literally learning and growing as a business owner every single day.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in injectable aesthetic services, including Botox and Dysport, dermal fillers for the lips, cheeks, chin, and lower face, as well as biostimulators such as Sculptra and PRP. I am best known for achieving natural-looking results that enhance each client’s unique features, creating a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance without looking overdone.
What I am most proud of is my tenacity and grit. I know at my core that I am capable of accomplishing anything I set my mind to. I am also incredibly proud of the relationships I’ve built along the way—those meaningful, supportive connections with my clients, mentors and colleagues are a huge part of what fuels my drive and makes this work so fulfilling.
What sets me apart is my commitment to staying true to my values above all else. I prioritize transparency and education, taking the time to explain why I recommend specific treatment plans so my patients feel informed, empowered, and confident in their decisions. I also go above and beyond for my loyal clients, including accommodating their needs whenever possible—even traveling to them when necessary. My goal is always to provide thoughtful, ethical care while delivering results that feel true to who they are.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Trust the process… There is always some way to accomplish your goal, it just may take dedication, hard work and persistence.
