Daily Inspiration: Meet Eric Christopher

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Christopher

Hi Eric, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 1990, I was backpacking around India as a 24-year-old and decided to volunteer for the Mother Theresa Home for the Destitute and Dying in Calcutta. My first day there, I was told to sit with a man laying on a cot who was dying. I sat and talked with him for about an hour when he died right in my arms. Something shifted in me at that moment. As we carried his cold, stiff body to the burning pyre, I knew that who or what I was just talking to was not that shell of a body, but rather the light, energy and consciousness that had animated his body. That experience had an impact on me and I reflected that life is like this great slight-of-hand card trick…we go through life identified with our bodies, yet the whole time we are actually these soul beings of pure energy who are eternal, indestructible, and outside of time and space. One day we won’t be our body, but try as you might, you cannot separate yourself from the consciousness that animates the body. So, I reasoned that we should be able to tune into the part of us that we already are, and that we cannot separate from…our eternal soul self. But how? I discovered the answer a few years later.

I came across a book by Dr. Michael Newton that changed my life…Journey of Souls. Dr. Newton was a psychologist who used hypnotherapy in his work. A few times his clients unintentionally went to the source of their issue in a past life. He was skeptical at first, yet he was not only able to verify some of these lives but also discovered the sessions had great healing benefits on multiple levels for these clients. He took his work further and guided his clients not only to a prior life but then followed their consciousness deeper into the spiritual realm after that life was over to uncover what their soul experience was like. After guiding thousands of people into expanded states of consciousness in the afterlife realm, he realized that there were many consistencies with what people were describing. The one thing they all had in common was that it was a profoundly beneficial experience for everyone as they began to re-identify themselves as eternal divine beings beyond the physical body, experiencing a much larger picture of life behind the scenes of their physical existence. This provided much healing, understanding and clarity for their lives. After reading that book, I knew that this was the work I wanted to do and vowed to train with Dr. Newton before he retired. I was fortunate to do so, and along the way also trained with a multitude of remarkable teachers, healers and practitioners who inspired and influenced me.

It’s now been 25 years since I began guiding clients on deep inner journeys within to a higher, wiser, more permanent version of themselves for the purpose of gaining healing, insights and clarity for their present lives.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My major growth as a person and a practitioner all happened after a divorce which devastated me for over a year, right as I began a master’s degree program in Marriage and Family Therapy. In retrospect, I realize that for 10 years after that divorce, I grew in so many ways personally, professionally and spiritually that I never would have otherwise, and it led me into exploring my passion and becoming a more effective therapist in doing the unique hypnotherapy that I do.

Another setback was I would get very anxious anytime I started talking about past lives and the outside-of-the-box therapy that I was beginning to get passionate about. I realized I needed to overcome this fear. Then, during one of the past life regression hypnotherapy trainings, we had to divide into groups of two and guide each other in a past life therapy session. I saw a past life where I was killed for speaking my truth. I saw myself as a traveling preacher of sorts going around middle eastern villages about 1000-2000 years ago. I have no idea what I was preaching about, only that there was one village where they didn’t care for what I had to say, and rolled a huge boulder over my chest, collapsing my lungs and killing me. The regression experience corresponded to nightmares I had every few months where I was trying to tell someone something, but I had no air in my lungs and they couldn’t hear me. Puzzle pieces fit together after that regression experience, and whether that was a real past life or not, a huge layer of that anxiety was released that day. I remember our instructor saying that many of us have been killed in other lives for going against the mainstream viewpoints, and we had to overcome our unconscious fears from those traumas if we were going to continue with this work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Before any session, I ask clients what they would most like to release, let go of, heal, gain insight into, etc. These could be present life traumas, limiting subconscious beliefs, understanding from a higher viewpoint, etc.

I then guide clients within to connect to expanded states of consciousness to discover, release and heal the mental and emotional roots that underlie anxiety, depression, fears, shame, unworthiness…anything that covers up the divine self that they are. They become freer and begin to identify more with their true, authentic nature that can help them create a life of happiness and fulfillment.

Here’s another way to put it…I use hypnotherapy to do two things: 1) guide people to connect to and identify with their Higher Soul Self – an aspect of themselves that is already whole, complete and without fears – that can provide insight, wisdom, direction and clarity to their present life. This is possible because you cannot separate yourself from your soul self, it simply gets covered up in the human experience; 2) help people release the limiting thoughts, feelings and beliefs that are based in the past and stored in the cellular memory of the body and the subconscious mind…and then replace it with the empowerment and wisdom that is based in their Higher Self, which is simply an unconscious aspect of their multi-dimensional self. I guide people within to heal themselves using past life regression, life-between-lives therapy, and present-life Emotional Healing sessions.

When you experience a past life regression, your higher self, or unconscious mind will almost automatically show you a life or lives that benefit you the most and help you move forward, heal something or evolve in some way. This is because the soul’s instinct is to grow and evolve, just as the body’s instinct is to breathe. Additionally, past life regression is an excellent way to access your transcendent self because you disidentify with your current body/mind system, identify with a different one that your higher mind/unconscious mind shows you, and then when that life is over, you go deep into the spiritual realm where you can more easily connect with your higher wisdom and often spirit guides or loved ones who have passed over, depending on how deep you move into the higher vibration of the spirit realm. Whether you chose to interpret these past life images as a symbolic metaphor or an actual past life, it yields positive therapeutic benefits either way.
