Today we’d like to introduce you to Fabiana Peterson.
Hi Fabiana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I worked 30 years in the corporate world, 20 of those in the Financial Markets. After my divorce, I gave up that career to pursue my passion to inspire and help human beings to feel empowered about themselves, by helping them find their inner strength, the light that has always lived in them. I use my knowledge of cognitive Neuroscience and the science of Human Emotion to coach and empower my clients to achieve their goals by reconnecting with their self-confidence, managing their emotions, thoughts and feelings, which in turn drive their behavior. I basically help them with their self directed Neuroplasticity, rewiring their brain.
Transformation comes from within, and I focus in helping my clients create the awareness of their own brainpower and TAKE ACTION! My job is to challenge them in finding the best version of themselves and help them start creating positive change in their lives.
My work is very unique. I’m not the typical Life Coach. I studied what happens in our brain, connected to cognitive thinking and human emotion to apply that to my coaching, using the backing of science to create true transformation. I am a super positive person, who exudes that energy everywhere I go. I help my clients with tools they will use for life to change their behaviors: your thoughts are what create your feelings, which in turn are what drives your behavior. I focus on helping them create the awareness of the behavior and thought patterns that are getting them stuck, and then help them take action to create change by rewiring their brain.
The life experiences I’ve had, with all the changes I’ve been through, taught me that we always have a choice in life, and being positive is definitely one of them. I choose to be positive, I choose to have joy in my life! I’ve left my home country of Brazil and moved to the U.S. to get married to my first husband at 29 years old. I lived 5,000 miles apart from that husband for the last 5 years of our marriage (I was in Minnesota and he was in Africa) and then a very hard divorce happened after 15 years of marriage. No divorce is “easy”, but I can say with confidence that with the choices I’ve made, the actions I’ve taken and the positive reactions I’ve had during the entire process, I am now a very fulfilled woman. Today, with my knowledge of Neuroscience I understand why I came out so positive. I remarried the love of my life, and I have a great relationship with both sides of the step families.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Going through a divorce was the toughest situation I’ve had to deal with in my entire life. But I am glad I went through it, since it taught me so many lessons about myself, about dealing with real suffering and that it’s always our choice to be happy or stay sad or in the victim mode. And I also learned about what I really wanted to for my life.
I was let go of my last corporate job, that I ended up taking to make more money because of my divorce. The humbling experience of being let go, for someone who always had it all easy in my professional life was a great one. I started college at 16 years old, I was always hired by Fortune 100 companies who paid me really well and even paid for my MBA. So during my search for another corporate job, I created my Instagram account @feelfabulousbyfabiana where I was just sharing tips on how to feel good about yourself. Something I always liked to do: to inspire and empower people. Then one of my followers sent me a direct message saying that my words changed their life and asked if I was a Life Coach. That was the first time I thought of it. But it felt so right! I researched all I could, chose the right certification program in Chicago and got Certified as a Life Coach. I printed business cards, and never looked back. My Instagram is now a place where I share free general coaching advice on Self Awareness, Self Love, Healthy Relationships and Healthy Habits. And now that I just turned 50 years old this year, I have a goal to empower women out there to learn how to accept and age gracefully without the sad stigma of society that women have to look eternally young.
I guess that because I truly found my calling and I took action, I didn’t struggle, or maybe I didn’t feel that what was hard was a struggle, because it was my path to get to what it was right for me. Instead of focusing on being the most successful coach out there, I’m always focusing on what is the next step to get to where I want. Focusing on each step, is less overwhelming that looking at the end goal…
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a Brain Health Certified Coach, I facilitate my clients’ self directed Neuroplasticity. I basically help them rewire their brain. I encourage, empower and guide them to get inside their core, gain clarity about their brainpower and find the right path to reach their goals by creating the awareness of the behavior and thought patterns that are keeping them stuck, then act on them to create change! I use my knowledge of Cognitive Neuroscience (Science of the Brain) and the science of Human Emotion to help them create that change. My help with accountability also plays a big role in the process.
I’m known for the power of transformation I have on my clients. You can read the reviews in my Google Business account.
I’m proud of being open to change, to have found my calling and gone after it. I don’t worry about what other people say, if I know I’m following my values and my moral compass is on point. I am proud of having transformed many humans’ lives and helped them find their self love, and change their negative patterns. I’m a proud mom of a 16-year-old daughter who is the biggest joy in my life.
I’m proud to be a great wife, mom, sister and daughter, following my biggest value in life, which is my family!
What sets me apart from others I think is my authenticity. What you see is what you get. I don’t follow society’s standards. I follow what is right inside my heart and soul. My values drive my behavior.
In the case of my coaching, I believe that what sets me apart is to use the backing of science to help my clients to change the patterns that is getting them stuck, and also my ability to win people over with my authentic energy and true desire to make a difference in their lives. I TRULY listen. I’ve heard many clients say that I have helped them find out about issues that not even their therapist of many years was able to do. I think they feel comfortable to open up and be themselves with me. And that’s golden!
How do you define success?
Success in my professional life means that I am transforming the lives of every single client that I coach. That they come back for one offs and/or refer me to their friends and family.
As a mother, I believe I’ll succeed if my daughter is able to be her authentic self, following her dreams and accepting who she is, embracing her beautiful self without worrying about what anyone says. Being a kind, respectful, loving human being to add value in this world.
As a wife, success means that I allow my husband to be who he is without asking him to change. Create open and honest communication so that we can both follow our individual paths, but having a beautiful partnership in life. It’s loving him for who he is and allowing him to do the same to me.
