Daily Inspiration: Meet Haley Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Davis

Hi Haley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For as long as I can remember, I had a camera on hand. Id grab my parents cameras for sleep overs, road trips, vacations, and everything in between. There were a lot of film rolls filled with photos of friends, cats, and random spots I thought were pretty.
As I got older, it transitioned into taking friends Myspace profile pics (what a throwback!), photos for peoples blogs, while still carrying around cameras for the fun, every day things.
While I was in my mid 20s, I was taking photos here & there. Family photos, senior photos, headshots for some friends, etc, when I was asked about taking wedding photos for someone. I was so nervous, but I took the job. What a sense of excitement and accomplishment I felt when the night was done! I knew this was something I could, and wanted, to do.
I wanted to make art, meet new people, and live from that.
Slowly over the years, my creative side has started to flourish instead of just trying to blend with the trends. Its been so rewarding and I cant wait to see what kind of magic I create with folks moving forward.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, I do have to say its been smooth, but not without some hiccups along the way.

While working around other jobs, spending money you don’t have, advertising yourself, and so on, you also have to have confidence in yourself & your work. Its tough to *not* play the comparison game in this industry, and breaking out of that mindset is still something I struggle with.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My photography is a blend of whimsical, fun, and dreamy.
I loooove to play around with different kinds of lighting, as you can see most of my work. Bursts of golden sun at dusk, hazy sunlight drenching a summer afternoon, or a punchy flash indoors. They all can evoke different emotions & vibes!

Id like to think that not only my photography style, but also my presence during the shoot, is what can set me apart in this industry.
You can look at my website / socials and see what your end result might be – but the fun & uniqueness of my work really shines when the people I work with are comfortable and up for the weird, random ideas & collaborations. Its like we build off each others ideas, hype each other up, and they end up leaving the session with a feeling of excitement, because they were a part of the chaos (I use chaos in a good sense haha) so, I think thats a pretty special connection that people can have with & take from my work [:

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
To take opportunities when you can, because they may not be there when you’re ‘ready’.
Life doesn’t wait, and things come up. So prepare, and always be mindful of being flexible.
