Daily Inspiration: Meet Ingrid Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ingrid Wilson.

Hi Ingrid, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember, but at certain times I’ve been more prolific than others. As we entered the first lockdown, I devoted serious time to my blog’ Experiments in Fiction’ to stay sane and found myself writing mostly poetry. I also wrote diaries and travelogues and shared my experience living with a chronic, debilitating health condition: PMDD or Pre-Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder. I continued to write to stay grounded through all the changes that followed (including relocation to two different countries). With the growing popularity of my blog, I began to publish poetry collections, my first publication being The Anthropocene Hymnal in 2021. I went on to turn this into a publishing business, and my most recent title, Wounds I Healed (Edited by critically-acclaimed poet Gabriela Marie Milton), became an Amazon Bestselling New Release.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a smooth road?
Certainly not! The biggest challenge has sometimes been to keep going despite widely-held beliefs that you cannot succeed in a creative endeavor. Success should be measured in the value of the art produced: if the words I publish resonate with my readers, then I consider this a success.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in poetry, publishing poetic works, and producing beautiful books which should impact the reader emotionally. I am immensely proud of all my published works, particularly the collaborative anthologies, which celebrate my work and the work of many other talented poets and artists. My dedication and attention to detail set me apart: the work has to be as near-perfect as possible before I publish it. It also resonates with me; the poems have to sing from the page. To me, this is the essence of poetry.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
‘Wounds I Healed’ features the work of writers from across the US, including Minnesota and Worldwide. Here is a description of the book: Award-winning authors, Pushcart nominees, emerging poets, and voices of women and men come to the fore in this stunning, powerful, and unique anthology. These poems testify to the challenges women face in our society and their power to overcome them. This anthology is a must-have for anyone with a memorable collection of over 200 poems by more than 100 authors. We all can benefit from the poetry of survival and healing. We all can benefit from the experiences so beautifully evoked in this book. We can all come together to emerge triumphant from pain. It is available in paperback and Kindle format from Amazon. The latest publication from EIF will be the debut poetry collection from Jeff Flesch, Nature Speaks of Joy and Sorrow, which is to be released on 1 September 2022.
