Daily Inspiration: Meet Jennifer Marie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Marie.

Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Music has always been part of my life. I started singing and playing piano at a young age, writing songs as a way to process what I was feeling and what I was witnessing around me. In my early years, music felt like both an escape and a calling, but life eventually led me down a different path — raising a family, building a corporate career, and putting my creative dreams on pause for a while.

After an 11-year break from songwriting, I felt a strong pull to return to music — not as who I was then, but as who I had become. A woman, a mother, a storyteller with more depth, grit, and perspective. I began writing again from a place of honesty and lived experience, blending soul, pop, blues, and piano-driven melodies that reflect resilience, growth, and the courage it takes to start again.

Today, I’m an independent artist creating music that’s rooted in authenticity and emotional connection. I perform across the Midwest, release original music, and build community through both live shows and online platforms. My journey isn’t about overnight success — it’s about honoring the long road, trusting the timing, and proving that it’s never too late to chase the dream that’s always been calling you back.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all — and that’s been one of the most defining parts of my journey. Like many women, I carried guilt for choosing time for myself and my creativity while also wanting to be fully present for my family. Re-entering the music world later in life came with doubts, fears, and the pressure to “catch up.”

What I learned is that struggle isn’t a setback — it’s a refinement process. The obstacles sharpened my voice, strengthened my resilience, and reminded me that success doesn’t have to look fast to be meaningful. The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been deeply intentional.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create music for people who are in the middle of becoming — especially women who are balancing life, family, and their own dreams. As a singer-songwriter and pianist, I specialize in soulful, piano-led songs that tell real stories about resilience, self-worth, and choosing yourself again.

What I’m most proud of is coming back to music after an 11-year pause and building something honest and sustainable from the ground up. What sets me apart is that I’m not chasing perfection or overnight success — I’m creating from lived experience. My music is deeply personal, but it resonates because it reflects moments so many people recognize in their own lives.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was both sensitive and strong-willed. I cared deeply, sometimes to a fault, and I felt emotions very intensely. I was creative and imaginative, but also responsible and mature for my age. I liked structure, but I also needed creative freedom.

Music became the place where all of that could coexist — emotion, curiosity, and expression. It allowed me to be vulnerable in ways I didn’t always feel comfortable being out loud.
