Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalot.
We’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
basically kalot started by two of us who are really close going to local shows a lot & basically saying “lets try to start a band and see if we could atleast play like 1 show and see people beat each others *ss to our music like we do to theirs”. we didnt have a plan, we didnt have connections nobody really knew who we were, we just knew this dude who played guitar/bass/ect, & he knew this other dude who played drums so we just started jamming. at first i (chance) played guitar, millie did vocals, jerry played bass, & tony on drums. now i do vocals, millie plays bass, jerry plays guitar, we have another guitarist nate, and a new drummer brandon.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
its been pretty smooth, we didnt expect to get as “big” as we are as fast as it happened, we really only planned to play one show if we could even make that happen but roughly 10 months later we’re getting ready to go on tour. we’ve had some lineup changes but thats normal.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
we do kind of a metallic beatdown hardcore style with some deathcore influence sprinkled in, its kind of hard to classify our sound. i think at this point we’re known for our sets being energetic & scary for people watching considering how many broken bones/injuries have happened during our sets. i think if anything sets us apart from the other bands here it would just be our sound, we dont really fit in any box or genre
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
we’re all just real people and i think that helps. none of us are out here to be better than the next dude or fake our personalities, we just show up make our music and support other bands.
