Today we’d like to introduce you to Kellie Smith.
Hi Kellie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up on a ranch in northwestern Colorado, where my family ran an outfitting business. From an early age, I saw firsthand what it meant to work in the service industry—welcoming guests, guiding them through new experiences, and making sure their time with us was meaningful. I learned that helping people feel cared for and creating moments they’d remember was not just important—it was something I truly loved.
My parents were both entrepreneurs, and that spirit definitely rubbed off on me. They always encouraged me to follow my passions, and I’ve carried that with me throughout my life.
In high school and college, I managed a local floral shop that gave me complete creative freedom. That experience lit a fire in me—I fell in love with floral design and the way flowers can bring beauty, emotion, and storytelling into a space. Over time, I started designing for friends and family, which naturally evolved into opening my own floral business.
As I worked more events, I found myself drawn to the bigger picture. I loved not just creating the floral pieces, but helping bring the entire event together—from the mood and decor to the flow of the day. My offerings grew from full-service floral to include event planning, decorating, and day-of coordination. It brings me so much joy to help others celebrate life’s meaningful moments—whether it’s a wedding, fundraiser, dinner party, or anything in between.
At the heart of everything I do is a desire to give back. I’ve always felt a deep connection to my community, and I’m passionate about supporting local projects, causes, and fundraisers that help it thrive. For me, success isn’t just about running a business—it’s about building relationships, creating beauty, and doing what I can to make others feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road—but I’ve come to believe that there’s no such thing as a lost moment or a wasted experience. Every challenge has something to teach us, and often those moments of detour end up guiding us exactly where we need to be.
One of the biggest setbacks I faced was having to close my first floral shop after my daughter and I were in a serious car accident. I wasn’t able to work for a while, and at the time, it felt like a heartbreaking pause in something I had poured so much of myself into. But looking back, that season allowed me to slow down, heal, and realign with what mattered most.
During that time, new doors began to open—I was able to step into part-time work as an event coordinator, which gave me a whole new perspective and set of skills. It reminded me that even when one chapter closes unexpectedly, another one—often a better one—is waiting just ahead. That pause in my plans ended up being a redirection, and I truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am now without it. It taught me to trust the process, keep moving forward, and know that joy can grow from the most unexpected places.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a floral designer, event planner, coordinator, and decorator—but more than anything, I see myself as a curator of meaningful experiences. My work is rooted in helping people celebrate life’s moments in ways that feel personal, thoughtful, and filled with joy.
I specialize in bringing each client’s unique vision to life—whether it’s an intimate dinner, a wedding, or a large-scale community event. I take great care in making sure every detail reflects the heart and personality behind the occasion. My goal is always to help the day run seamlessly while also creating something that feels beautiful and deeply intentional.
In floral design, I’m known for asymmetrical arrangements and my love of texture and unexpected color combinations. I find so much inspiration in nature, and I always aim to create pieces that feel artful, organic, and just a little bit magical.
One thing I hear often from clients is that my calm presence is grounding in the midst of all the moving parts. I think that ability to stay steady—while still bringing energy and excitement—helps create an environment where people can truly relax and enjoy their moment.
What I’m most proud of, though, is the chance to be part of people’s most meaningful days. It’s such an honor to be trusted in those moments—whether I’m designing florals, setting the mood with decor, or making sure things go off without a hitch behind the scenes. I also feel incredibly proud of the work I’ve been able to do in my community—using my skills to support local projects and fundraisers that help it grow and flourish. It means everything to me to give back and help create a legacy of connection and care.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to trust the process. Life has a way of unfolding in ways we never expect, and sometimes the detours end up being the most meaningful part of the journey. I’ve learned not to spend too much energy worrying about the things I can’t control. Instead, I try to stay present, find the beauty in the moment, and keep moving forward with purpose and heart.
Life really is a wild ride—but it doesn’t have to be taken too seriously. There’s joy to be found, even in the chaos, and sometimes the most magical things happen when you simply let go, stay open, and allow life to surprise you.
