Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenneth Fair.
Hi Kenneth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Minneapolis at HCMC then moved to Palmdale, California when I was about 3 I believe. I was there from kindergarten to 3rd grade and I moved before I could finish. We moved to Duluth till about 5th grade them moved back yo California till I was in 7th grade. I literally can’t make this stuff up, haha. We moved to Laughlin, Nevada for like 7 months then moved across the border (Colorado river) to Bullhead City, Arizona. Finally moving back to Duluth to settle down from 8th grade till my first year of college at LSC. I graduated high school from Duluth East. Growing up I always loved art and music. I snowboarded a lot and spent a lot of time outdoors which helped boost my creativity. But like most smaller cities there was only so much to offer as far as culture and opportunities. I just need a change of scenery to be honest. I moved to Minneapolis in 2012 when I was 18, with no job and $500. I knew a friend who said he needed a roommate so I moved, paid him and found a job. My roommate at the time, was heavy into music. He had a studio in the basement and was good at making beats. So that was my first little taste. Fast forward like a year or 2 and now that I’m comfortable see how I have met a few more people from networking. I decided to start a Facebook page that kind of like a blog about up and coming Minnesota artist called Born From Boomers. Sharing videos, posts here and there, etc. Eventually, I noticed that I was almost acting as an A&R so I decided to get into Artist Management but because people were asking me to represent them because my network and such. So I’ve been representing DJ Lightr$, who Is also a good friend by the name of Chauncey. I acquired another artist by the name of Vonboi. Essentially I help connect them with other creatives, book shows, share flyers/content, etc. Whatever they need that I can provide with my resources. That Eventually turned into some social media marketing endeavors so I incorporated that into what I wanted to do for artists as well. Connect artists with the community by bringing together all creatives and venues through collaborative projects, which give artists a network platform. I’ve been doing this for a while amongst dealing with legal issues, housing issues, covid-19 unemployment, and not to mention family issues but I still haven’t lost my vision… to put Minnesota music on the map. Also, I’ve been working very hands on with an artist by the name of TRACE who I helped with his NFT drop at REM5 VR Lab called Roftbots, check it out on opensea.io. But more importantly, I recently have been asked to join the Create Capital team, a brand new podcast I’m helping produce. The podcast is about art, music, fashion, and entrepreneurship, also current events and local news. I’m very excited about this project and I feel like everything I have been doing has prepared me for this. I can’t wait for you guys to see what we’ve been working on! I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Homelessness, and legal troubles.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Artist Management, Curator. Social Media Marketing. I can see talent and gifts in certain people I believe. I’m most proud of the NFT collection my friend dropped, I gave him an outline on how to do it. Also, proud of this podcast we’re starting, The Create Capital. What sets me apart is I never quit or stopped being hungry.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Never give up. Invest in yourself more.
