Daily Inspiration: Meet Lucas Levron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucas Levron.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My programme here is in 2 parts. I work in a farm during 9 months and after I will go to the university of mast international during 1 semester. When I was a student at my University, I heard someone speaking about an exchange program between my university and MAST INTERNATIONAL. In my mind, that can be great. I always wanted to discover other cultures, technical working and meet new people. Also, I wanted to improve my English. So I asked my teacher that I would like to participate in this program. It was very complicated with the covid. But after 2 years, finally, I succeed to come here because MAST INTERNATIONAL organize my internship.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it was very difficult. First, I wanted to come here at the end of my study in September 2020 with one or two other French friends. But I couldn’t because of the Covid19. So I waited almost 2 years to come here. My friends gave up this project but I was always motivated to discover a new country. And after there were a lot of information to send and papers to do to get my Visa. And 2 months before my arrival, I knew nothing about the plan so it was very complicated to organize my travel in just 2 months. Because my project didn’t move on I contacted another company to realize this project so I spend a lot of time doing almost the same papers for two organizations. Also, I had to adapt my work contract in France. So a lot of obstacles but with a lot of patience and perseverance I succeed.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an employee in the farm. We produce meat cows and crops. I manage ( calving, feed, interventions…) the cattle. And for the crops, I drive trucks, and do the easy maintenance on the equipment. I love the contact with the animals and nature. My work here is very different from France, the farms here are bigger so the equipment too. And the technicals of productions too. Also, the weather is different and sometimes it’s hard to work with him.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Maybe I have three advice for them, to be ready to have complicated weather because there are a lot of wind often and some snowstorm in the winter until the beginning of May. You should know that here all are bigger, the equipment, the distance between the cities… Don’t worry, the people welcome us well and there is a wonderful landscape!
