Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyreshia Ghostlon-Green
Hi Lyreshia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From an early age I always knew I liked to entertain and be entertained. I love telling stories and being engulfed into a world that is separate from my own. It wasn’t until my mother died when I was 15 that I took my first acting class. It was a beautiful escape from my terrible new reality. From that class I learned techniques and tools to better enhance my natural talent for the art. In middle school through high school I was involved musicals and plays. Taking acting classes and camps whenever I could. I decided to go get my bachelors in acting which was a huge step to take. Never thought someone like me would be able to go to college let alone it be for something performance based. Deciding to get a bachelors in acting and being accepted into the BFA program was my green light to take my passion all the way. And now haven recently graduated from said program and I am diving in head first into the professional theatre scene in Minneapolis. Determined to make my name known and to build connections. So far it’s going well! I will be making my debut March 14th 2025 at Lakeshore Players with their production of The Book Club Play by Karen Zacaries. The Book Club Play runs March 14-23 and I couldn’t be more excited. After this production I have another one lined up! I will be playing the role of KiKi in Significant Other by Joshua Harmon at Lyric Arts! Exciting things on the horizon!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing in my life has ever been smooth. Putting myself through college for 4 years was a lot. I worked very hard all the time and I’m very proud of myself for it. I juggled multiple jobs, being a leader on campus, being in productions and school work. My mother died when I was 15 years old leaving me an orphan. In my most formative of years I had to learn to navigate the world without her very quickly. My mother raised me well and all my success I owe to her as she’s the one who instilled the beautiful work ethic I have today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a performer. I recently graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a BFA in Acting. If say acting is my specialty but I pride myself on being a well rounded artist. I have experience in dance, singing, spoken word, emcee/host.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love to read. My favorite genres are autobiographies and self help books. Some of my favorite books as of late are “A Gentle Reminder” by Bianca Sparacino, “Master of Me” by KeKe Palmer, and “The Defining Decade” by Meg Jay.
