Today we’d like to introduce you to Renosh Rejoy.
Hi Renosh, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Of course! As a child, I was always fascinated by the art of taking photos and videos. I noticed how taking photos and videos was a great way to preserve memories. During nearly every family vacation, I was either recording every step of the journey on my dad’s old Sony Camcorder or taking photos on my dad’s Nikon D5100.
I also loved memorabilia. I valued keeping used notebooks, past school worksheets and test scores, used textbooks, old art projects, and just about everything from my childhood.
Fast-forward to the beginning of my high school journey in 2023. I met a wonderful, experienced photographer at my school. He saw my obsessive interest in photography and assigned me the biggest favor I have ever received before: to take photos for an upcoming Halloween event at Uplift Infinity Preparatory. I was hesitant to take the offer but reluctantly accepted. On the day of the event, anxiety took over, and I worried I might drop my camera or take bad photos and let my mentor down. I prayed to God and hoped that everything would be all right. After the event, my mentor went through my photos and was astonished at how well the photos turned out. He motivated me to continue pursuing photography, and so I did.
In the first year of photography, I learned a lot from my mentor. With the support of my mentor and my family, I continued taking photos during events at school. I became the photographer of my church and took photos during church events as well. I took all of my photos and posted them on Instagram. I focused not on followers or views, but on how my work could inspire others to pursue their dreams. That’s what I continue to strive for.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been smooth for the most part. One thing that my photography taught me was that the workload becomes easier when you embrace it with joy and creativity instead of relying solely on discipline. This mind shift changed how I see photography. For instance, I don’t see taking photos as a chore, but as a fun opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and experiment with unfamiliar techniques that change my photography in many ways.
Building connections with other like-minded individuals can also make your hobby fulfilling because once you find a community of people who have the same interests as you, it can be easier to make new friends on a deeper level. As a photographer, I was able to find online photography communities, connect, share insights, and give constructive feedback on social media.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Life goes by fast—so fast that it can be quick to forget the little things that make it special. I’ve always wanted to capture and preserve life’s moments because it’s even the little things that make life that much more memorable. That’s why I started pursuing photography.
I am an all-rounded freelance photographer. I take photos of just about anything: nature, wildlife, weddings, travel, sports, you name it. It’s difficult to focus on a particular type of photography to specialize in, so why not do everything? It’s great because I get to see photography from different perspectives. It allows me to explore different options and use my skills across different settings.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built with my clients over the years. It’s a blessing to not only be able to capture and preserve vivid memories for my clients but also to connect with them on a deep level. I create a safe and comforting environment for all because my clients should feel valued and understood.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Along my journey, the most important lesson I learned was to embrace imperfections as growth opportunities and never give up on my passion. In the beginning, I used to focus so much on achieving perfection in my photos that I often missed the joy of living in the moment. It was difficult, but I used them as learning opportunities and worked toward photography that captured and preserved life’s moments, one click at a time.
