Daily Inspiration: Meet Robin Anthony

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Anthony.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The Chamber was in a period of transition and needed renewed leadership, strengthened relationships, and a fresh vision for the future. With her deep love for community, her public-sector, global consulting, starting her own business from the ground up and her reputation as a connector in the St. Croix Valley, Robin stepped into the role with a strong desire to rebuild, reenergize, and unify the Chamber.

One of her very first steps was reaching out to local leaders asking for honest guidance, context, and history. That willingness to listen, learn, and collaborate became the foundation of her leadership style.

From there, Robin led the Chamber through significant revitalization:

– strengthening member engagement

– rebuilding partnerships with city leaders, schools, nonprofits, and businesses

– expanding community events

and ultimately launching major initiatives like the Leadership in the Valley Program and the World Snow Celebration and its globally recognized World Snow Sculpting Championship.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I love people yet people can be part of the problem. It is getting them to understand the why we are doing things the way we are and getting them to understand why to invest. It has to be a two-way street. Robin loves feedback even when it is tough to hear because that is how success happens. Doing things better, taking risks, thinking outside of the box, making a difference.

Sometimes bringing people together to work collaboratively is not always easy; but it works.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Robin has served as the President of the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce and its Foundation since April of 2016. Prior to that, she worked 12 years in local and state government, 8 years in global consulting, and 6 years as a small business owner. In her prior life, she instructed marching bands for 15 years across the State of Minnesota, hoping to make a difference in young adults.
She attended St. Cloud State University, Communications Major and her continuing education includes multiple programs, certificates and courses from: Century College, University of St. Thomas, St. Charles Illinois, U of M, Auburn University, Capella University and is a graduate of the Institute for Organizational Management, US Chamber of Commerce.

Robin has lived in the Stillwater Area for over 35 years and has two adult children who both attended the Stillwater Schools. Tyler is a former Marine, and currently, Military Police for the Stillwater National Guard and a Police Officer for the City of Stillwater. Her oldest daughter Nicole is a teacher for the Stillwater School District. Nicole has two little boys which are Robin’s love and joy. She is passionate and proud of her family, community, region and country.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Feel free to change the way this reads……. all of it BTW

Robin’s middle name is risk, Without risk there is no growth. We are taking a huge risk with the World Snow Celebration event as it is an expensive event to implement. However, what an event it is fueling the businesses in January when it normally slow. Bringing culture, diversity, art, excitement to Stillwater.
