Today we’d like to introduce you to Sani Brown-adefope
Hi Sani, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a future Media Mogul in the making. And I want whoever is currently reading this to know that I had to go through A LOT to possess the confidence it takes to make a statement like that.
I am the creator and CEO of Cutie Booty Media, INC. a company I created to educate Women about Emotional Intelligence and Wellness, as well as a Host at Carbon Sound FM (carbonsound.fm). I’m in my 6th year of business and I just added my first video series to our website called ‘Wanna ‘Feel Cute?’ DO THIS!’
Additionally, I am a Licensed barber currently working on my shop ‘The Cute,’ which will bring a sense of Entertainment to the Barber industry.
My Clothing line and lifestyle brand Cute AF., was created for Bold Cuties who use fashion to express themselves.
Finally, I am a Lyricist, Dancer, and Singer. I absolutely LOVE the stage and I’ve been walking in that truth and it feels AMAZING!!!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road!
I used to watch/listen Les Brown in my early Radio days (Mama told me to listen to him since he’d worked in radio, too!) and in one of his talks called ‘It’s Possible,” Les Brown speaks of ‘Murphy’s Law’ and how unexpected things WILL happen on your journey to your dream.
I am living a life I absolutely CRAVE but it did not come without its costs. I’ve lost relationships that I thought were solid, because I had to walk away from them for my mental health and emotional wellness and that might possible be the single most shocking thing to me. I really want the next generation coming up after me to understand that their dream WILL cost them sleep, friends, family, money, and to be honest SO MUCH MORE than that BUT like Les Brown said: “Once you realize it was worth it IT IS DONE! IT IS DONE! IT IS DONE!” And Chile, yes! I don’t regret JACK!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create Media for The Girls. More specifically, ‘The Cuties.’ Virtual Classes. Short form videos. Reels. Music. I’m also currently working on an album for Cutie Booty Media, INC. that explores emotional intelligence and wellness themes.
‘The Cuties,’ is what I like to call them. I, myself am a ‘Cutie.’ A ‘Cutie’ is any Woman or Girl that takes pride in how she shows up in the world. A ‘Cutie’ is someone like my Mother. She took pride in how she showed up in the world and she made sure I knew that was how she felt. She did that through the clothes and accessories she used to put on me as well as the life she used to speak into me.
Back in 1st grade, I was in a play called ‘The Ugly Duckling’ and I was one of the pretty ducks. Why did Mama buy me a black, white, and pink, polka dot belt, and matching headband? She also bought me a bright orange, yellow, pink shirt and skirt combo to pull it all together. I promise I was the cutest smug duck in that whole play. I remember how I felt that day. I felt confident. I felt like a star! But most importantly, I felt CUTE!
My Mother ALWAYS hyped me up. She STILL does to this day. When I started my Radio journey back in 2012 after winning my scholarship, Mama used to stay up and listen to my show that aired from 2am to 5am Monday through Thursdays on KMOJ. Mama tuned in when I was a Producer at MyTalk 107.1, and Mama is a regular listener to my show ‘The Message’ on Carbon Sound. My Mother is the poster child for supportive Mothers and that is the energy I bring to the work I do at Cutie Booty Media, INC. I serve the Cuties like my Mother served me.
Cutie Booty Media, INC. is my way of passing on the Legacy of the ‘Girls Girl’ energy I grew up experiencing under my Mother’s rearing. When my Sister started her Barbershop, I asked my Fiancé to help her. He put in the floors, stations, lights, and he painted and he did it all for free. When my Mother needed to change her diet due to being diagnosed with Diabetes, I completely changed the way we eat to accommodate her nutritional needs. My Daughter graduated a Valedictorian. I referred my Fiancé’s daughter to the local non-profit organization in Minneapolis called ‘Project DIVA’ that my own Daughter was a member of. I also currently take care of my Mother and it’s an honor to be in a position to do so cause that’s my FAVORITE GIRL!!
I am a Girls Girl to the CORE and SO MUCH of that was inspired by how my Mother raised me. I LOVE helping Women and the past 20 years of my life has proven that, but that’s not enough for me. I want to take this GIRLS GIRL popsicle stand GLOBAL.
Why? Well, most of the Women I mentioned are related to me. I want to take my powers and expand them to Cuties who aren’t related to me. I like seeing Women take control of their lives and live them in a way that sparks joy for themselves as well as other Women! I LOVE THAT! When Women inspire Women? That’s how I got here! I want to pay that forward! By being inspired by Women who spark joy within my heart! I want to do that with Cutie Booty Media, INC. and I’ve started by creating several series to help Women ‘feel cute’ by improving their relationship with their emotions.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Mama used to call me her ‘Social Butterfly,’ but I was actually a very shy, nerdy girl who loved music and dancing and EATING! I been a foodie since WAY back. I also LOVED Science and used to run experiments in my parent’s kitchen with – wait for it – food ingredients. I also loved tech and showed that when I pretended to produce radio shows back in 6th grade. I used to record songs off of KDWB and then talk over them like a radio host.
I’ve always been a loner even though I had 2 siblings and grew up pretty close with my cousins. I could play well with others but I could also have a ball by myself. I remember I had a shirt that said: “I’m going to take all of my toys and go home,” and I still feel that way to this day. Mama always thought it was funny that I picked that shirt and still does to this day.
That said, back in my 20’s I just let anybody get near me. The road to Sanni was a cake walk and that’s exactly what lead me to working on Emotional Intelligence and Wellness today.
