Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Vang.
Hi Sarah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was young, I struggled with my body image. I went through traumatic things as a teen, and I also changed myself because of what other people wanted me to be. I saw all the beautiful women of all colors, shades, shapes, and sizes and wanted to be like them, wanted to be as confident as they were. I got older and I began to find out who I was, I got into makeup to cover up my acne, and then found out it made me feel so confident, I then began to get into fashion by watching my most favorite influencers through my laptop as a pre-teen. I started to post on Instagram and TikTok for fun but started to gain attention by random people supporting me. And soon I started modeling, I have my first runway show in November and plan on more photoshoots!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So many challenges had come my way, I’ve been through many things I wouldn’t want anyone to face. Being a Hmong woman and having your life monitored 24/7 makes a teen even more sneaky, it eventually leads me to S/A, addictions, and inflicting self harm.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
There’s not really anything that sets me apart from others, but that’s what makes me unique, I can be honest about it. Everyone is the same in some way but not really that different, we all are here to live and love, the world runs on love, love in comment sections, love by being held, love by being told your beautiful, love by meals our mothers cook, a love that a father gives to his son by teaching him to fish. We are all fueled by it, and without it, no one can ever push through life being happy. My content is mostly things I occupy myself with, whether is my makeup, or my outfit, it’s always things that I love.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My parents, they’ve been here for me and let me put on makeup as a child, letting me wear what I wanted as a kid, and teaching me lessons so I could thrive as my own person.
