Today we’d like to introduce you to Skippy.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ever since I was young I’ve been making music. Classicly through band and piano lessons, but also on garage band on my phone just messing around with beats and things like that. But two years ago I decided to take it all the way, and downloaded Logic on my computer and started making real songs and releasing songs. And ever since then it has been the ultimate goal for me to continue getting better at music and keep creating.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. It’s hard to continue to have the confidence to keep releasing songs, let alone to have them not always perform the way I want them to. I’ve spent a lot of time surrounded by really talented people, especially musicians. And while I feel that has been big for me in becoming better at what I do, it has also been very intimidating, and even stressful at times. I’ve always felt I have what it takes, but when I see other people also doing great things, it reminds me I’m not the only person who has the goals I have. So that sometimes is tough to swallow, but I generally try to use it as motivation to improve, and keep my mind focused on what matters most to me. I know I will get where I need to be, as long as I focus on myself and focus on getting better every day.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a music producer primarily, but make a lot of my own music and sing/rap on that as well. I have always been musical and I love creating music. I’d love to one day step into film scoring even as well because anything that involves me creating new music is something I want to be a part of. I think I can be set apart from others because I have a very unique style of music, and focus on making really really well-crafted and interesting music. I don’t ever want to make something that isn’t exactly how I want it to be, and sounds boring or like something that’s already been done. I focus on making authentic music and music that is the absolute best I can possibly make.
How do you think about happiness?
I like making others happy. One thing I’ve always loved is having an impact on people. Even if it’s just helping somebody figure something out, but especially helping people through tough times. I have always wanted to be a role model for people and be someone that others can look to for inspiration. And combine that with my massive love for music, my absolute goal is to use something I love to inspire others and help others. Plus I love expressing myself and I want others to be able to feel where I’m coming from in my music.
