Daily Inspiration: Meet Tara Block

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Block

Hi Tara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Dame Errant began with a desire to connect the realms of creativity, wellness, and community building. Our workshops are focused on creativity as self-care. While we hope that our customers like what they make, more than anything we want people to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of spending time in community while being creative. We have grown from offering a couple of workshops a week to offering six plus workshops per week while also offering studio memberships.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was a big leap from a small personal studio that sat 10 people to our current classroom which seats 34. Another challenge was learning what things were important to perfect and what to delegate and just let go. The best skill I have learned is that usually done is better than good, and it is a constant learning experience.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Tara Block is a creator, artist, outdated yogini, and mystic who finds beauty in the simplicity and truth of clay. For over a decade, she’s been drawn to the medium’s ability to transform from raw earth into enduring artifacts. Tara’s passion lies in the wonderment of the creative process, what some call “flow”—the quiet of the mind when it’s fully immersed in shaping and making. For her, clay is a playground for exploring inspiration, testing ideas, and embracing imperfections.

She believes in the value of play over precision, often willing to lose a portion of her pieces in exchange for the joy of discovery. You will notice that in her throwing, her pieces are simple forms that, while never identical, share an intentionality that sometimes results in unexpected harmony.

Tara believes that if we can reconnect with our creative power, we may be able to reshape not just clay, but the world around us.

What matters most to you? Why?
Giving people a place to practice their creativity and relax is fun and sweet and beneficial, but more than that, what kind of a society would we be if every person realized their own creative power?
