Exploring Life & Business with Dalton Outlaw of Element Gym

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dalton Outlaw.

Hi Dalton, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
He was born and raised in Saint Paul, MN. Dalton Outlaw fell in love with sports at an early age. Being the youngest of 4 sons, Dalton was influenced by his older Dallas, Daniel, and Derric. At 7, he followed my brother Daniel into a neighborhood boxing gym. By the age of 10 years old, Dalton went on to become a national champion and a fierce competitor in multiple sports. Using all the skills, he learned in sport. He was able to transfer it into life. He was the first of all his brothers to graduate from college. Dalton decided to use his education to build his legacy. He was combining his love for boxing and his degree in business. He opened his boxing gym.

Dalton Outlaw founded Element Boxing in 2011, sacrificing his professional boxing career to give youth a chance to achieve greatness through boxing committed to them. Being a professional boxer and running a successful gym at the same time is impossible. Selflessly, Dalton chose the latter. Focus on being the “best for the world” rather than the best. He credits much of his success today to the skills he learned in his neighborhood boxing gym – BT Bombers boxing club. Without knowing the actual impact, the gym would have opened its doors to the public. While still working full-time, Dalton knew that the gym would be about more than just boxing, so he worked tirelessly to create a long-lasting gym that could maintain for the long term.

Over the years, he’s attracted some of the best personal advisors, community advocates, and fitness coaches across the Twin Cities. Because of his hard work and dedication, he formally created the Element Community Health Fund inc, officially known as CoMotion Center for Movement, a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission to build fitness equity for underserved youth in Saint Paul. The organization’s memberships are part of what helps sustain the non-profit so that it can focus on equitable programming and true community impact. By adding this counter-part, Dalton has done the unthinkable; he took a little boxing gym and created a social enterprise that impacts countless lives.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Dalton Outlaw founded Element Boxing in 2011 to give back to the community. He sacrificed his professional boxing career to give youth a chance to achieve greatness through their boxing journey. Outlaw quickly learned that being a professional boxer and running a successful gym is practically impossible. So selflessly, he focused more on the gym than becoming a boxing contender. Outlaw credits much of his success today to the skills he learned in his neighborhood boxing gym. Element Boxing has the vibe of a traditional boxing club like his child gym with the look of a large fitness club.

Without knowing the true impact, the gym would have on the community. Made many sacrifices in the early years to keep the doors open. Outlaw recalls working full-time to supplement the income of the gym. He knew that the gym would be about more than just boxing, so he worked tirelessly to make the organization the success it is today.

Since its inception in 2016, Element has expanded into multiple campaigns, gained national recognition, and gained respect as a community leader while becoming a force for good in the community. Most importantly, because of this work, children’s lives are impacted for the better.

Our vision is to be a pioneer in the fitness industry that promotes wellness while also doing good in the community. We want to set the standard for creating, developing, and sustaining exercise equality by combining community resources. This vision continues to evolve, and we can’t wait for what’s next!

What’s next?
Recently I began activating the next chapter in my life. Real estate development and property ownership have always been a dream of mine. Over the last two years, I have expanded my knowledge, relationships, and property portfolio through the creation of Outlaw Development LLC. My team and I are working on multiple projects ranging from single-family renovation and new construction commercial “affordable housing” apartment buildings in the city of Saint Paul. I’m most excited for this new and expanded journey because this will be a great way to create generational wealth and financial freedom. At the same time, also provide housing solutions for some of the most vulnerable tenants in the community.
