Exploring Life & Business with Dara Levine of Cast Iron Communications

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dara Levine.

Hi Dara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I had recently moved to the Twin Cities from working in food and beverage PR in New York and thought that maybe I would freelance for a few people in town. Kelsey, who would become my partner, had just moved back home from San Fransisco where she was doing the same. Our first client had proposals from both of us as individuals and encouraged us to meet and talk about teaming up. We met for coffee, decided to launch Cast Iron Communications and that was six years ago now. Over the past six years, we’ve stayed true to only working with clients in the food, drink and hospitality space and it’s been amazing to help share the stories of our talented clients on a local and national level.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, when Covid hit and most restaurants shut down there were struggles. We feel very fortunate that we’ve had some loyal, long-term clients that have stayed with us through it all, and ones that we could help as they constantly needed to reinvent themselves.

As you know, we’re big fans of Cast Iron Communications. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Cast Iron Communications focuses on creative communications for all things food and drink. We help our clients mostly with public relations, helping them get their stories told in the right way, to the right people, at the right times, in the right places. Unlike most PR companies, we stay very focused in the food and drink space and don’t take on clients outside of that realm. Additionally, we’re small and nimble – a team of well-seasoned professionals that can offer a lot of personalized attention.

How do you define success?
Helping our clients accomplish their goals.
