Today we’d like to introduce you to David Timm.
Hi David, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My wife and I were working at a normal gym in Rochester as personal trainers. We were in a meeting one day with the owner and he told us that he didn’t care if people got results, he just wanted their money. My wife Allie quit that day but we had 2 small children and I felt one of us needed to work so I didn’t buy a week later I also quit and we started the gym in our small garage. We started we 10 members and a dream to help people change their lives through fitness.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No way! We have literally started with nothing but a dream and hard work ethic. When we started we couldn’t afford the mats for the floor so we would buy a few a month until one day we had the entire place covered. We would buy equipment slowly because we just didn’t hand the capital to purchase a bunch at once. When we moved into our current space we needed a small loan to get the place up to code and i literally went to 20 different banks until I found one that would help us out!
As you know, we’re big fans of CrossFit Credence . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We have a passion for helping people mentally and physically become their best selves. I have a degree in community health and wellness coaching and that’s my main focus at credence. To help our community become fit through proper exercise and nutrition. We can help people at any age, ability level or disability.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My wife Allie. She has been by my side through all the ups and downs. She picks me up when I am down and drives me to be the best version of myself.
