Today we’d like to introduce you to Deanna Casablanca.
Hi Deanna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As a little girl, I would gather scraps, small items and empty boxes and design miniature houses. I would use empty shoeboxes to design the structure and rooms for the I’d get enough free samples of wallpaper to decorate each room. I would I’d build the furniture from empty boxes, use matchboxes for the drawers and little stickpins from my grandmother’s sewing kit for drawer pulls. It was a natural outlet for me to use my innate passion and creative energy. I carried my passion for decorating and design into adulthood. It led me to a design school on the east coast. Learning from amazing designers and having the opportunity to internship with them, I was sure I was going to use my passion and talents in a job that would allow me to use and expand my creativity and design pallets. That was not the case; instead, I found myself working retail on the design team, in a furniture for several years.
The company’s rules and regulations did not allow me to use or expand my passion or creativity toward design. I felt limited in what I could offer clients and felt they deserved the best that I could offer. I found myself dreading going to work each day. I was in a car accident that required surgery and had to take a leave of absence. During my leave of absence, the urge to make a change in my career path was speaking to me more and more. I wrestled with self-doubt, fear of the unknown and how I would maintain a stream of income to live. After some recovery, I went back part time with a few work restrictions, but knew I had to begin taking steps to design and implement my dream career. I continued to wrestle with the fears I had been grappling with, as far as making this career shift, but began taking small steps toward it, anyway. At this stage of the covid outbreak, many celebrities and talk show host were filming from their homes.
As I was watching these shows, I noticed how their homes were designed and decorated. How a space is designed, automatically grabs my attention. I felt my creative flow emerging and began designing and decorating their space in my mind. I was imagining and putting together designs that would create more flow and connection between them and their home space. I also noticed how the design and décor could connect and be more appealing to their audience. As my creativity began flowing and I began imagining how I may design their space, I felt that passion and aliveness again. It was the spark I needed to get back to making my dream career a reality. This was that magic moment when I knew I would not be returning to my job. I was ready to burn the bridge that kept me from going all in toward my dream career; I put in my notice to leave my job and launched D. Casablanca Interiors!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
In the beginning period of covid, I found myself slowly feeling depressed and defeated. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do at this point. I felt stuck Self-doubt, income and my health recovery were still fears I was experiencing I knew I couldn’t and wouldn’t turn back. The decision to leave my job, lead me down a path to making my dream a reality. Facing the ever-changing nature of life, my personal fears, and temporary obstacles,
As you know, we’re big fans of D. Casablanca Interiors. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My desired outcome for my service goes beyond just having a beautiful space. Creating a beautiful space is the mechanism used to bring joy, comfort, and beautiful memories into each client’s life. It’s a pathway for others to find solace, comfort, more energy, and joy as they navigate and experience this life. The service I provide is navigated by the core belief, that our external and internal home is connected and reflects each other. The finished product will leave clients with their desired outcome, reflected visually in their external home, and felt in their internal home. I continue to focus and visualize the joy my clients feel when they have a space, a home that brings calm and flow (fill in) to their overall life. I feel joy and purpose to offer this service to others, but it goes beyond design. The many relationships that have been built and nurtured over time have been a gift.
Home is a personal space. It’s the space we retreat from the day to day. It’s the space we nurture and care for ourselves and our family. Home is the first space you see and feel when you wake up and the last space you see and feel when you rest at night. Our home reflects our personality, how we see ourselves and the world. Working with others to create joy, calm, organization, memories with friends and families, is gift and passion I embody, using creative design. Whether it is working with realtors or individuals, my offering is creating a space where others can feel and experience their desired outcomes. www.dcasablancainteriors.com
I have also added E design for all of my out of area peeps. You can have your room designed with shoppable links to purchase furniture and accessories. It is important to know that Interior Design is affordable for everyone. We all need to live in homes that help us thrive.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success comes from the by-product of a life lived from the inside out. The key to living a successful life is grasping the awareness that you are enough. Once you understand that, you create the space within your consciousness that allows you to realign harmoniously with your higher good.

Oh my gosh Dee is amazing on every level! She came to my home with an open heart and mind. She listened to my dream – what spoke to me as far as colors. I do not have vision – I know what I like and what I don’t. What the design category is I have no idea. We went shopping in person and virtually. I shared photos of furniture and Lay-out that appealed to me. Bottom line – she turned my dream and her vision into a space I never want to leave and is uniquely my own.
