Exploring Life & Business with Dominic Pinoteau of Runic 3D Printing LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Pinoteau.

Hi Dominic, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started off with my first printer 10 years ago now because I wanted to make my own D&D miniatures. I fell in love with the process, with capabilities of 3D printing and over the years with encouragement from family and friends turned it into Runic 3D Printing LLC. I still have the same passion for it that I did when I started but I have a better understanding of the materials, the process, the machines and have even started learning how to design my own 3D models.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all—it’s been a rewarding road, but definitely not a smooth one. Balancing my full-time job while running Runic 3D Printing has required a lot of time management and sacrifice. I also have pets and value maintaining strong personal relationships, so finding that balance between business, work, and life continues to be one of the biggest challenges.

There were nights where I’d be fulfilling orders or troubleshooting printers after a full day at work, and weekends where instead of resting, I was prepping for an event or building inventory. Another ongoing challenge is constantly seeking out new events and opportunities to showcase my work—it’s rewarding, but also time-consuming and competitive. Despite the struggles, every obstacle has taught me something new, and the support from customers and my personal circle has been a huge motivator to keep pushing forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I specialize in producing high-quality, durable, and eye-catching items—from toys and home decor to cosplay props and fidget tools. What sets me apart is my dedication to both craftsmanship and innovation. I work with a wide range of materials, including TPU, which is softer, more flexible, and less likely to break or cause harm—perfect for masks, props, and anything that might be handled frequently or worn.

I offer a growing selection of ready-made products, but I also provide limited custom orders, such as custom colors for existing models or print-on-demand services for customer-provided files. I’m currently teaching myself 3D design using Blender and Nomad Sculpt so I can offer fully original designs in the future.

My brand is becoming increasingly recognized in the TikTok cosplay community thanks to my unique dual-color TPU masks and props that are both convention-ready and comfort-friendly. I’m proud to offer a variety of products backed by consistent quality, combining FDM and resin printing techniques to meet different needs and aesthetics.

Above all, Runic 3D Printing is about bringing imagination to life—safely, creatively, and with a touch of geeky charm.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
