Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Lindenbaum.
Erin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been living with alopecia since I was three years old. At ten, I made the decision to start wearing wigs — a choice that would shape the rest of my life in ways I never could have imagined.
That’s when I met my stylist, Michelle. She helped me pick out my very first wig, but what she didn’t know at the time was that she was also helping me choose my future career.
Throughout high school, I continued seeing her for the styling of my wigs. One day, I asked her how I could do what she does. She told me exactly what it would take — beauty school, apprenticeship, building clientele — and I followed her guidance to a T.
As I began working with clients experiencing hair loss, something incredible happened. I was able to relate to women, men, and children on a deeply personal level. Many of them had never met someone else living with hair loss. They felt safe opening up to me. And in helping them feel seen and understood, I found healing within myself in ways I never expected.
Ten years later, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life. I left the hair loss salon I had worked at since the beginning of my career. It was bittersweet — and honestly, terrifying. But I knew I was ready.
In July 2025, I opened my own hair loss salon suite.
What once felt scary quickly turned into confirmation that I had made the right choice. Since opening, my business has skyrocketed — but more importantly, my impact has grown. Every day, I have the privilege of walking alongside men, women, and children on their hair loss journeys.
Helping them reclaim their confidence isn’t just my job.
It’s my true calling.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of my biggest struggles has been learning not to take my clients’ pain home with me. Working so closely with people experiencing hair loss means I often see the deeper layers, illness, grief, identity struggles, and confidence challenges. It’s incredibly meaningful work, but it can also be emotionally heavy. Over time, I’ve learned the importance of holding a safe space for my clients while they’re with me
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Elevate Salon & Hair Loss Studio offers cutting-edge, non-surgical options including micropoint links, extensions, synthetic/human hair toppers and wigs for guests going through chemotherapy, alopecia, trichotillomania, etc. Each curated with precision, artistry, and discretion. Whether you’re navigating early stage of thinning, or looking for a complete transformation, my studio brings a decade of hands on knowledge and passion to guide you every step of the way.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned as a business owner is to trust myself. Making the decision to step out on my own was terrifying, but I’ve realized that growth only happens when you’re willing to bet on yourself. I’ve also learned that success isn’t just about numbers, it’s about integrity, relationships, and staying aligned with your purpose. When you lead with heart and authenticity, the right clients and opportunities follow.
