Exploring Life & Business with Izzy Rosas of IZZY’S GLAM BAR

Today we’d like to introduce you to Izzy Rosas.

Hi Izzy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been passionate about the beauty industry from an early age and I knew at a very young age that the beauty industry was going to become my career.

From an early age, I was also very optimistic, driven and confident but discovered throughout my beauty career that not everyone is confident or can quickly learn from a beauty tutorial and found myself oversharing and determined to help other women feel confident by helping them enhance their beauty through beauty services.

When I was a child, my own barbie dolls had a Salon. I even gave my little sister a haircut while playing when we were kids (got in some trouble! hehe). And I used to gather all my neighborhood friends and do makeovers and play-acting.

During my time in Mexico, I also did my friend’s hair for school dances and competitions in middle school. By the time I returned to the States and graduated High School. I quickly learned that cutting hair was not for me and that the beauty industry has a lot of different branches to offer.

Although, I didn’t pursue Cosmetology. I was determined to discover my area in the beauty industry so attended Saint Paul Technical and Community College and became an Esthetician. I wanted to secure a license and get properly educated and always loved taking care of my skin. Right after graduating. I moved to Los Angeles, California, and attended one of the country’s top Makeup Artistry schools name MUD (Makeup Artistry).

I learned so much during my short but sweet time in California and got to experience being on set and learn what is like working with models and long hours.

I eventually returned to Minnesota and worked for multiple beauty brands while freelancing as a Make up Artist. I definitely came across multiple challenges because beauty brands require a lot of weekends and freelancing events tend to be on the weekends as well. I also had no idea how to properly set up a business or even run a business. I confidently call my makeup artistry time my first failed business where many lessons were learned.

Leaving Minnesota after becoming an Esthetician and trying to get hired by a Salon upon my return also became a challenge. I grew up in a more suburb area and there weren’t as many Salons at the time to apply to and didn’t get many interviews. A lot of no’s if I’m really being vulnerable.

However, because of my experience in Makeup Artistry and retail Cosmetics. I eventually got an opportunity with Benefit Cosmetics inside ULTA Beauty using my Esthetician license and became a fanatic of brows!! Shortly after, I was hired by a different Salon and worked full-time doing eyelash extensions and eventually became a full-body waxer. Finally finding my area in the beauty industry.

After the shutdown of Salons. I quickly learned a lot of lessons from that as well. I took a leap of faith in the summer of 2021 and with the power of social media and my love for content creating. I put my work out there and went full force and left working for someone else and got my first Salon suite in Eagan. Today, I moved my business to one of Sola Salons’ newest location in Eagan by the outlet mall and I couldn’t be happier!

I get to run my business my way and help other women feel beautiful and confident.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. I definitely went through multiple challenges in my career as mentioned in a few. Getting my work and my name out there at the beginning of my career in the beauty industry was a struggle of its own and getting interviews for Salons was a challenge as well.

The shutdown of Salons also came with some struggles.

As you know, we’re big fans of IZZY’S GLAM BAR. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
IZZY’S GLAM BAR LLC is the name for my Salon Suite and becoming its own brand. It’s where I offer beauty services such as Eyelash Extensions, Brow wax shaping, and tints as well as body waxing.

I’m definitely known for my touch and attention to detail. I get many compliments on that. I specialize my work in a more natural but detailed work for lashes, good define brows, and helping my clients feel confident with Brazilians for body waxing!

What sets me apart? Mmmm, I would say my connection with clients and followers. I love including them in the journey of the Salon through social media. During my recent move, I had them help me pick colors, decor, etc. through instagram stories for the new space! I also truly enjoy creating educational content for them and content in general.

What I’m most proud brand-wise would definitely be embracing being feminine. Some people don’t believe it’s necessary to remove body hair, get eyelash extensions or spend money in beauty services and that’s totally ok. But to others, we were born girly, pink, and feminine and IZZY’S GLAM BAR loves to embrace that.

What I would love for the readers to know about IZZY’S GLAM BAR is that no matter who you are. You are always welcome and together we will help you boost that confidence and let the girly inside of you shine.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that most people who know my work and brand might not know about me is the Make up Artistry part that I mentioned about moving to LA. Most people have no idea that’s where I truly started my beauty career and when returning to Minnesota, I got to work at Valleyscare making scary clowns!
