Hi Jackie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Sprinkles & Confetti was born with a mission to spread joy while making party supplies easier to buy for busy hostesses across the country!
In 2016, as a mom of two kids under 5 and working in the corporate retail world, I got the entrepreneurial bug and decided to create Sprinkles & Confetti as a side hustle business! Determined to embrace the idea of a one-stop web-based party shop, I really wanted to take the hassle out of hosting so busy moms could get back to enjoying the party instead of spending hours piecing together necessary party goods.
The business has evolved since its initial start, offering a mix of party supplies for all of life’s celebrations from baby showers and first birthdays, to bridal showers, bachelorette fun, dinner parties, seasonal celebrations, and more.
With the help of a small but mighty team, that side hustle has become a full-time hustle and continues to grow thanks to the local support in the Twin Cities and across the nation! Sprinkles & Confetti can now be found online at our original website, on Etsy, and some exclusive items are even sold on Amazon for those last-minute party purchases!
Our goal remains the same, I’m always looking to source stylish party supplies for all of life’s celebrations, delivering all the party necessities to bring your party vision to life no matter how big or small your celebration may be.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Wow! Owning a business can certainly be a rollercoaster. While I’ve been fortunate to have steady growth over the years, there are always new challenges to navigate.
Within 6 months of quitting my corporate job and leaning in full time to Sprinkles & Confetti, the start of Covid hit and like many other industries, party supplies literally came to a screeching halt. Owners in my situation were forced to make tough decisions, do we just close up shop? Do we try to hang on and see if parties as we know them come back? Fortunately for me, I had some bottled up creativity waiting to be shared and I began to make balloon garlands. While balloons were not part of my initial business model, they brought our local community tons of joy during a time when we couldn’t host parties for birthdays. We could at least surprise our children, friends, and family with a happy delivery of balloons! That arm of the business continues to go strong and ended up being a very important revenue stream during a very challenging time as a small business owner.
While things have stabilized in the covid era, I’m extremely fortunate that my business is diversified with both local and national shipping options, and I know we’ll be able to take on new challenges like supply chain issues and increased cost structures. Keeping my customer at the center of business decisions and staying true to the mission to spread joy with every package we deliver truly helps guide me through the ups and downs of challenging times!
