Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaime Horner.
Hi Jaime, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in Minnesota riding and competing horses. As a competitor, these experiences developed a strong interest in sports medicine. With my passion for horses and competition, I pursued a career as an equine veterinarian focusing on sports medicine. After graduating from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, I pursued a career out East where I was able to care for equine athletes at all levels of performance up to the Olympic level competitions.
On returning home to Minnesota, I started my own practice in 2016. The advanced training and knowledge I have acquired give my equine patients the best possible care in sports medicine and excel at their jobs.
Additionally, I became certified as an equine acupuncturist. I found that horses benefit from acupuncture as much as we do for relaxation and recovery from workouts.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting my own business was one of the craziest, scariest things I’ve ever done. It had additional complexity to moving to a new state and offering a service that was a “niche” and not mainstream. I was fortunate that there was a need for the services that I offered and sports medicine care for horses is now appreciated and accepted.
But one of the many reasons for being able to get through challenges that occurred along the way was the friends I have made in the horse-care community. These people also take care of animals and horses and we have been able to support each other with the business but also for personal support. I may be a solo business owner, but I feel like I am part of a team. This business is successful because of the people that are involved.

Sporthorse Veterinary Solutions is an equine veterinary practice that focuses on sports medicine.
Sport injuries occur at all levels of performance whether on a leisure trail ride, speed events or being able to run and jump. Injuries include muscle strains, tendon/ligament injuries or arthritis pain.
