Hi Janay, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My journey with Hey Travoodies began with a fusion of my greatest passions: travel and food. From a young age, I was captivated by the idea of exploring new places, experiencing diverse cultures, and tasting the world’s myriad flavors. This passion grew stronger with every trip I took, every new dish I savored, and every story I heard from people around the globe. I wanted to create a space where fellow travelers and food enthusiasts could find inspiration and practical advice. Thus, the journey has been enriching and filled with learning, growth, and unforgettable experiences. Looking back, what started as a personal project has become a source of inspiration for many. Hey, Travoodies was born. I am also excited about a spinoff coming from Hey Travoodies, but I will have to do another interview.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting the blog was a learning curve. Social media played a crucial role, allowing me to connect directly with my audience, share real-time experiences, and receive instant feedback. The road hasn’t been challenging, but my passion for travel and food has driven every step. I am excited to see where Hey Travoodies will go next and to continue sharing this journey.

Hey, Travoodies is a vibrant travel and food blog that I started from my passion for exploring new places and tasting the diverse culinary offerings around the world. I aim to inspire, inform, and indulge our readers with authentic travel experiences and delectable food stories.

At Hey Travoodies, I offer comprehensive travel guides that cover everything from must-visit attractions and hidden gems to practical advice on accommodations, transportation, and budgeting. I want to make travel planning seamless and enjoyable for our readers. Food is at the heart of our blog. I provide in-depth reviews of restaurants, street food stalls, and unique culinary experiences from around the globe. Additionally, we share easy-to-follow recipes that bring global flavors into our readers’ kitchens.

My travelogues are personal and engaging, recounting our firsthand experiences, challenges, and memorable moments. We also produce video content that offers an immersive look into the destinations and cuisines we explore, giving our audience a visual journey alongside our written stories.

Travoodies is known for its authenticity, high-quality visuals, community engagement, and diverse content. We prioritize genuine and relatable stories backed by stunning photography and engaging videos. Our interaction with readers on social media and through collaborations fosters a strong sense of community.

In terms of your work and the industry, what changes do you expect to see over the next five to ten years?
The travel and food blogging industry is poised for significant evolution over the next 5-10 years, driven by technological advancements, changing consumer preferences, and the growing importance of sustainable practices. Firstly, technology will continue to revolutionize the industry. With the rise of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), readers will seek more immersive experiences. Blogs that incorporate these technologies will be able to offer virtual tours of destinations and interactive cooking experiences, making the content more engaging and interactive.

Social media will also play an increasingly vital role. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and emerging social networks will continue to be crucial for reaching and engaging audiences. Short-form video content will dominate, with bloggers needing to adapt by creating high-quality, quick, and visually appealing videos that capture the essence of their travel and culinary experiences.

Consumer preferences are shifting towards more personalized and niche content. Readers seek unique, off-the-beaten-path travel experiences and authentic regional cuisines. Blogs catering to these niche interests and offering specialized content will thrive. There’s also a growing demand for content that addresses the practical aspects of travel and food, such as budget travel tips, dietary-specific recipes, and family-friendly destinations.

Sustainability will be a significant focus. As travelers become more conscious of their environmental footprint, they seek content promoting eco-friendly travel and sustainable food practices. Bloggers must highlight destinations prioritizing sustainability, share tips on reducing travel impact, and feature local, sustainable food sources.
