Exploring Life & Business with Jennifer Winer of Winer Acupuncture, Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Winer.

Jennifer , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 1998. Early in my career, I worked as a pharmacy technician in both retail and hospital settings. This experience gave me a solid foundation in Western medicine, which continues to inform my integrative approach to healing.

While pursuing my Master of Science in Oriental Medicine at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in Racine, WI—completed in 2003—I continued working in pharmacy as a technician. During graduate school, I also had the opportunity to study abroad at the Training Center of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Guangzhou, China, where I earned a certificate in the Advanced Course of Acupuncture of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

My own experience with chronic pain led me to seek alternative therapies, and when acupuncture provided the relief that conventional treatments couldn’t, I knew I had found my life’s work. I’ve since expanded my training by studying meditation in Thailand and exploring vibrational medicine—tools that continue to deepen my ability to support patients on every level. I continue to study and learn many different techniques and have obtained many certifications in my 20 plus years of practice.

With every patient, I work to identify and address the root cause of their symptoms—not just treat the surface. Healing is most effective when the whole person is considered: body, mind, and spirit.

My mission is to empower individuals to reclaim their health by integrating ancient wisdom with modern wellness tools. I strive to create a safe, compassionate space where healing is not only possible—it’s expected.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m truly grateful for all of the wonderful patients I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years, as well as the new ones I continue to meet. I genuinely love what I do. Helping people feel better, grow their families, and reclaim their health is deeply fulfilling—it’s more than a career; it’s a calling.

There are still many misconceptions about acupuncture. One of the most common is that it’s only used to treat pain. While acupuncture is incredibly effective for both acute and chronic pain, I’ve treated a wide variety of conditions over the years, including stress, anxiety, fertility challenges, allergies, autoimmune disorders, and more.

Another widespread misconception is that we use large, hypodermic-style needles. In reality, acupuncture needles are extremely thin—about the width of a human hair—and most people barely feel them. Treatments are gentle and relaxing, and many patients even fall asleep during their sessions.

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) involve a wide range of techniques beyond just needles, and practitioners receive extensive training to offer personalized care. One of the challenges we face is simply educating patients on how this medicine works, how we are trained, and how treatments are tailored to the unique needs of each person.

Another challenge is helping patients—and sometimes even other healthcare professionals—understand how acupuncture and Chinese medicine can work in harmony with Western medical approaches. My goal is always to empower people with knowledge and give them the best tools available to support their health and healing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Winer Acupuncture, Inc.?
At Winer Acupuncture, I specialize in treating fertility issues, anxiety, stress, autoimmune diseases, back pain, as well as, chronic and acute pain, but my practice goes far beyond those conditions. I see a wide variety of health concerns, and I’m known for taking the time to look at the whole picture.

Currently the Baby Board in the office has over 80 pictures of baby’s that have come into the world with the help of Winer Acupuncture, Inc.

Yes, I provide exceptional care through acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, but I also believe in a collaborative, integrative approach to health. If I feel that something needs further evaluation, I won’t hesitate to recommend that you speak with your doctor about specific symptoms, labs to consider, or imaging that may be helpful. My goal is always to get you on the right track—with the right providers—and to work alongside any existing care you’re receiving.

I’m here to be your partner in healing, helping you navigate your wellness journey with honesty, insight, and support, while ensuring you’re getting the most comprehensive care possible.

What truly sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to individualized care. I take the time to deeply understand each patient’s unique needs—physically, emotionally, and energetically—crafting personalized treatment plans that address the root causes of health concerns, not just the symptoms.

I believe that real healing happens when we look beyond surface-level discomfort and uncover the underlying imbalances that contribute to illness. By taking a holistic approach, I focus not only on relieving immediate pain or discomfort, but also on restoring balance and strengthening the body’s natural resilience. This helps boost immunity, prevent future illness, and support long-term well-being.

With over two decades of experience in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, I bring both clinical expertise and a compassionate, intuitive presence to every session. My goal is to empower patients to take an active role in their healing journey—feeling heard, supported, and guided every step of the way.

Every acupuncturist is different, and finding the right fit matters. It’s incredibly important that you feel comfortable, heard, and supported by your practitioner. I’m very proud of the strong, trusting relationships I build with my patients—those connections are the heart of my practice.

My motto is: “Life Doesn’t Have to Be a Pain.” Because truly—it doesn’t. There’s a common belief that aches and discomfort are just part of getting older, but that doesn’t have to be your reality.

Coming from a background in Western medicine, I’m very grounded in science and results. I can honestly say: I would not be practicing this medicine if it didn’t work. Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine have changed my life and the lives of so many of my patients, and it’s my mission to help others experience that same transformation.

I’ve seen truly amazing results from acupuncture and Chinese medicine, as they work holistically to treat the body, mind, and spirit. My best advice for anyone who has never tried acupuncture or is considering it would be: give it a try.

Each treatment not only addresses your main concern but also touches on multiple areas of your health. Acupuncture’s unique ability to balance the body and mind often brings unexpected improvements in areas you didn’t even know needed attention.

And, perhaps most importantly, maintaining regular acupuncture treatments provides preventative care—something acupuncture was originally designed for. By staying proactive with your health, you can help keep your body in balance and prevent future issues from arising.

In addition to my formal education and clinical training, I hold certifications as a:

Hepatitis C Practitioner

Level 1 & 2 Voila Practitioner

Facial Rejuvenation Practitioner

Life Coach

Master Health and Wellness Coach

& Chinese Medicine Nutrition Specialist

I am a licensed acupuncturist in Minnesota and Wisconsin, nationally certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and Clean needle technique certified

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I always encourage new practitioners to find a mentor—someone you genuinely admire and whose style of practice reflects the kind of practitioner you aspire to be. Take the time to ask yourself: How do I want to practice? How do I want to represent myself, my expertise, and my clinic? Your professional identity isn’t just about what you know; it’s about how you embody that knowledge in your day-to-day care.

Networking is another powerful part of building a successful practice. Creating relationships with other healthcare professionals and local businesses can lead to meaningful collaborations and referrals. It also helps you stay connected to resources in your community that your patients may need outside your scope of practice.

Above all, education is the foundation of everything. Stay curious. Continue learning. Educate your patients and your community. Whether it’s understanding new research, refining your techniques, or bridging the gap between Eastern and Western medicine, your commitment to growth will always be one of your most valuable assets.
