Hi Lexy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Everything started here, home always been the St. Croix River Valley I was raised running through these woods with a strong sense that there is magic all around me. I grew up knowing the power of positivity and seeing people go to my Mom, Shellee for guidance and support. It all came together so naturally, like we have been preparing for this business our whole lives. The nature here heals, soothes and inspires, and Shellee has been this personification of light in so many peoples lives.
Root & River was birthed out of a desire to gather women and build a sense of community. The initial idea was Shellee’s, she has this beautiful way to teach people, to guide, it is one of her many talents. I was gloriously lost in motherhood, and was yearning for more.
Root & River was born almost 6 years ago with a foundation between a mother and daughter, rooted in love and magic.
We gather women monthly in our Moon Events. Diving into various topics or themes. From manifesting, self worth, and friendships, all of them built out, in hope to show women in this area that they aren’t alone and they are worthy of all joy. We bring in nature and harness the power of the moon to enhance each gathering.
These events have lead us to hosting workshops, spotlighting other amazing women in the area, and running retreats.
Our growth has been gradual and authentic. Shellee and I are so amazed by this beautiful community we have held space for. Our first event we had just 5 women, fast forward to today…. We are gathering 60/70 amazing women monthly. We sell out of our workshops and travel all over the world for our retreats. It has been a dream that just keeps getting better and better.
The success grows because I feel women crave and heal when they gather with like minded women. I’ve seen the power that gathering holds, and it’s something that will never go away.

Root & River is a joy based wellness company that’s rooted in sisterhood. A mother daughter team that specializes in holding space for women to remember their power, remember their worth, and to provide women with true support.
Root & River offers gatherings, workshops, retreats, 1:1 mentorship, reiki healing, trainings, yoga, breathwork and so much more.
Root & River believes we are truly better together. One of the biggest blessings this adventure has brought Shellee and I is the depth of friendships. The friendships we have cultivated personally through this community, but even more so being a witness to friendships forming in front of our eyes. It is so fulfilling witnessing women choosing to love themselves. To stand in this confidence and declare they are worthy.
My mom and I are blessed to be surrounded by such talented women. Root & River wouldn’t be here without them.
The dream is to continue forward with our vision, supporting the women in our community. To open up a small center, and to have our own space. We are working on expanding our offerings as well, including young girls so they can start this work now. Strengthening the belief in themselves and to strengthen the love of self.
Root & River’s Retreats have been epic! Why not choose to heal in some of the most beautiful places around the world?! From Northern Minnesota on Lake Superior to Costa Rica, the Mountains of Telluride, to the shores of the Oregon Coast we have traveled far and wide. It’s such a privilege to gather women with intention and have this extended time with them. Fall 2025 will mark our first retreat in Europe and we cannot wait to explore that part of the world with you.
As a daughter, I’m so proud of my mom, Shellee. She is my best friend, neighbor, business partner, Grandmother to my 4 baby’s, she is my ultimate expander and inspiration. Root & River have given us endless experiences together. We get to play, dive into our passions, and cheer each other on, all while lifting up the women around us. This adventure has been an absolute dream. & I am just so happy to be here.
