Hi Liz, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello all, I’m Liz Schultz, originally from small town Alexandria, MN, I’m 24, and a female business owner of North Country Nutrition in Eagan, MN. How I got to where I am today began with growing up and watching my parents become successful entrepreneurs. You could say this led me to having big aspirations at a young age. I always knew that someday I wanted to own my own business but didn’t think I would get here at such a young age. My mom has been doing Herbalife for 23 years so I grew up around that business, always loved the products and took them religiously throughout my athletic career in college. Being around Herbalife my whole life I didn’t think I would want to do it full time, I didn’t necessarily have a vision for it, but I knew I loved health and fitness so I decided to pursue a degree in Nutrition. After a few years of doing multiple different jobs after college and not being happy with where I was at I did some soul searching and decided to use my degree and take on doing Herbalife full-time. I am blessed with very supportive parents and 2 years after graduating my parents and I decided to partner and open up North Country Nutrition.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The initial decision to take the risk to open the business was probably the biggest obstacle I faced. Many different emotions rushed through my head from time to time, will the business will be successful, will I be capable and good at direct selling, can I make a good income and support myself off of this business. That was my biggest challenge, my mental game. However, the support of my parents and them having my back every step of the way made that obstacle easy to overcome and I am loving every minute of what I do!

North Country Nutrition is an Herbalife Nutrition Club. We specialize in providing people with good nutritional products and health and nutritional information to help people live a healthy and active lifestyle. The company Herbalife is the number 1 nutritional company in the world and we have an array of different products, anywhere from our number 1 meal replacement shakes, to our athletic specific sports line, multivitamins, and skin-care line are just to name a few. North Country Nutrition is a protein smoothie bar where we serve up our yummy meal replacement protein shakes and talk to our customers about their goals. We also offer one-on-one coaching to individuals looking to supplement in some of our products into their day-to-day routines. We also help those who want to lose weight, build muscle, and gain energy. Along with serving up our smoothies, we offer programs for people to become a part of if they want to make their shakes at home and we offer the business opportunity as well to those who are interested in making extra income either part-time or full-time. What sets our products apart from others is that they are low in calories and sugar, high in protein and essential vitamins and minerals to fuel your body, and they are NSF certified (national science foundation). In addition, our products are consumed by many pro and olympic athletes, which goes to show that these products deliver great results. North Country Nutrition values great customer follow up, a fun upbeat atmosphere and a place where people can come to socialize and have a friendly experience.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson that I have learned thus far in this business is that personal connections, networking and making your customer’s experience enjoyable goes a long way. The more people you know and connections you create with people grows your circle of influence and attracts more customers to want to come to your business. Being friendly and your true genuine self will allow your business to flourish. Embracing the Eagan community and the surrounding areas by getting to know those who work in the community has exponentially helped in growing my business.
