Exploring Life & Business with Mallery Hammers of Unlock Healing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mallery Hammers.

Hi Mallery, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi! I’m Mallery Hammers, founder, and owner of Unlock Healing, where I offer Quantum Neuro Reset Therapy (QNRT). I have a lot of love, compassion, and empathy for others. I believe no matter who you are, what you’ve done, or what you’ve been through, we are all worthy of love, support and healing. I also believe in the power of transformation and healing. And not only what that does for the individual, but also the people around them. Unlock Healing’s mantra is, “when we heal individually, we heal collectively.” In my eyes the healing process is both for self and others because of the ripple effect it has when one person says yes to their own healing. Everyone is deserving of healing, and I think it’s valuable when people believe that for themselves and then choose to honor it. That way, instead of operating from past wounds and pain, we can operate from a much more regulated, healthy, and truer state, which helps create safer spaces for ourselves and others. My path to Unlock Healing has been both personal and professional. Honestly, I never thought I would be a business owner and run my own practice. It was never the end goal for me. Yet, life brought me directly to this point, one chapter at a time. My journey leading me to social work (which ultimately led to my certification in QNRT) started in 2009 when I volunteered through AmeriCorps in North County, San Diego. There, I worked with youth at an elementary and middle school. From there, I worked with youth and families in various settings; at a nonprofit agency, a juvenile supervision center, and a program on an organic farm out in Hawaii. It was all of those experiences that led me to pursue my Masters in Social Work. After completing my MSW at Augsburg College here in Minneapolis in 2015, I landed my first school social work job. I worked a couple of years in a setting IV EBD program, and for the last 5 years, I was at Academic Arts High School in West St. Paul. This past school year was my final year of school social work (at least for now!), as I am now full-time at Unlock Healing.

I became a mama through adopting back in 2019. Becoming a parent in any way, shape, or form is a big transition! My son was 15 when we joined forces and like many teen and parent relationships, our nervous systems were not always working together! Between that and other life transitions, I reached out to my acupuncturist to seek out some additional support for myself and he recommended QNRT. I didn’t know a thing about it, but was willing and ready to give it a try! During my first visit, my QNRT therapist learned that I was a LICSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and informed me I had the credentials to get certified in QNRT. At that moment I wasn’t in a place to add something to my plate. Yet to my own surprise, a year later, I was on my way down to Georgia for my first training seminar!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Is anything truly worth it, a smooth ride?! Haha! I don’t believe so! I believe the things in life that bring challenges, growth, transformation, and commitment are the most worth it! I honestly think one of the biggest obstacles for me was myself and the F word – fear, which I can acknowledge speaks to my privilege in the fact that I was my biggest obstacle rather than other people or systems making things harder. At numerous points along the way though, I did question and doubt myself. Thinking, what am I doing?! Can I do this? I don’t know the first thing about running a business! But having faith, I kept putting one foot in front of the other. The right people or things came along at the right time, reminding me I was indeed on the right path. Whether it would be a friend offering to help me with business planning, another practitioner saying the exact words of encouragement I desperately needed to hear, or a beautiful office space opening up, it all belonged and kept me going. I also am fortunate to have an amazing support network of family and friends that have been believing in me, supporting me, and rooting for me along the way!

We’ve been impressed with Unlock Healing, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As I mentioned, I practice QNRT at Unlock Healing. QNRT stands for Quantum Neuro Reset Therapy. It is based on the research and understanding that unresolved emotional stress and trauma, either generational, past, or present, can lead to physical, emotional, and mental breakdown when locked and stored in the body. So QNRT uses a protocol to create a shift in the nervous system and reset the brain’s response to emotional triggers.

QNRT is a complimentary, minimal talk, holistic style therapy that relies heavily on the body’s ability to inform, communicate, and heal. It’s based on the mind-body connection, and the entire process is guided by kinesiology-style muscle response testing. I typically describe the process as physical therapy for your brain and nervous system. In a QNRT reset, we activate the brain through light and eye movement and exercise our cranial nerves through our senses to form new neural pathways. When this occurs, we are not operating from old patterns, emotional wounds, or adverse experiences that no longer serve us, but rather from healthier pathways that align with our true authentic selves. Our brains are extremely malleable and not as hardwired as we once believed. Therefore, healing and transformation on this level are possible and highly beneficial to our overall health and wellness.

I love doing this work and coming alongside others in their healing journey—no matter your race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, etc. I’m open and willing to support anyone and everyone who wants to try out QNRT. Healing should not be a privilege but a right for all people to have access to. Therefore, ALL people are welcomed and Unlock Healing. Clients have expressed that they have felt very comforted, seen, safe, and validated in their lived experiences throughout their QNRT journey at Unlock Healing. My goal is never to be the expert in someone else’s healing but rather to assist and activate the healer within them. I love seeing the results that QNRT brings to individuals. Clients share they are less reactive, more centered, less anxious and stressed, their sleep and energy improve, and overall feel more like themselves. I’ve had many clients share that this modality brings a lot of clarity and that they can make healthier and more productive choices with the newfound wisdom gained through QNRT. It is remarkable to witness people rediscover who they were truly meant to be (not what others or the past defined them as) and embrace and love that person.

What would you say has been one of your most important lessons?
We are wired for connection! Whether reconnecting with self, your higher power, or connecting with people who support and uplift you. Choose to surround yourself with those who believe in you and encourage YOU to believe in YOU! And also, never underestimate what you can achieve (both individually and collectively), as well as the lives you can touch and impact around you. Every single person has something magical to offer this world. I bear witness to that through the individuals I have the privilege of working with!
