Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Barraza.
Hi Maria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I graduated from PCI Academy in 2019. I then started off working for other lash studios but I wasn’t really happy. Being in such a negative space I got really discouraged and took some time off. I knew I wanted to have my own lash studio but I wasn’t sure how to start.
My son passed away in 2020 and that’s when I knew I needed to do something for myself. I wasn’t sure how but I knew I needed to. I met an amazing nail tech named Denise who really mentored me and helped me believe in myself. I then decided to take a risk and I opened up my first lash studio in – “1024 Beauty Lounge.” In honor of my son who had passed away.
This past October I relocated and rebranded and we are now The Dollhouse.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been easy. I opened up a studio after being home for about a year, had 0 clients but I had a dream and I believed in myself. I had a lot of people tell me to just give up, to get a “real job” that I wasn’t going to be able to make it.
I knew if I stayed consistent and practiced my business would only grow. I began making instagram reels and just put myself out there. A lot of new people started to follow me and my clientele really grew.
You just have to believe in yourself no matter what. Giving up on your business or dream should never be an option!!

The Dollhouse is a Lash Studio located in Eagan MN. Where we specialize in Lashes and Brows. We are mainly known for Eyelash Extensions but also offer Lash Lifts, Brow Lamination, Tint, and Wax. This year I became a Livbay Lash Supplies Ambassador and that’s been amazing. I feel super proud and grateful. They are truly an amazing brand. I also started mentoring and offering 1:1 trainings. I really enjoy being able to help guide others who have the same dream but aren’t sure where to start. I hope I can continue to inspire and guide more people.
