Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Smith.
Hi Mike, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My grandmother was amazing. She own several businesses throughout the span of her life. She started a Anderson Realty in 1960. I watched growing up as she helped EVERYONE I knew make all of their big decisions… She hired me when I was 15 yrs old to help her fix up an old home that she had bought to fix and sell. I was HOOKED! That was 30 yrs ago. I am now privileged to be in her place as the broker and owner of Anderson Realty. I have been an appraiser, investor, remodeler, restauranteur, general contractor, realtor, broker…. and I play music. 😉
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was very difficult for my grandma, as a small woman in the late mid-century years. She actually received hate mail from men telling her she should open her own brokerage… She bravely blazed a trail through a wilderness, It has been relatively easy for me to follow in her path.
As you know, we’re big fans of Anderson Realty. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a boutique real estate brokerage in MN (mostly in the Twin Cities) and Western WI. We believe that homes are a sacred artform. They are a truly important part of the human experience. We strive to give our clients that best experience possible, to empower them through out process to find a home that they will LOVE living in, and provide strategy that will help them win in a challenging and changing market.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Wow, fun question… I often think back to a time when I was painting rocks in the driveway with my mom.
