Today we’d like to introduce you to MORGAN LUND
Hi MORGAN, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My passion for design and creativity has been ingrained in me since childhood. Growing up, my mom approached every creative challenge with enthusiasm. One memory that stands out is when she was adding a wallpaper feature wall and came up a few feet short. With her incredible skill, she seamlessly painted the missing section to blend in perfectly—you couldn’t even tell where the wallpaper ended and the paint began. That was just one of many moments that made her my ultimate creative inspiration.
As a child, I had the privilege of accompanying my mom, a realtor, to various homes, where I absorbed inspiration and nurtured my creative spirit. My parents frequently remodeled our homes with impeccable taste. My dad took on most of the renovation work, and I was always by his side, eager to learn and problem-solve with him. Naturally, I loved rearranging and redesigning my bedroom as often as possible! In high school, my Aunt Wendy arranged for me to job-shadow an interior designer for a day, and from that moment on, I knew design was my calling.
After high school, I pursued my passion at Alexandria Technical and Community College, earning a degree in interior design. While studying, I gained invaluable hands-on experience working at a local lumber yard’s design center. Applying my education to real-world projects helped lay a strong foundation for my career.
Upon graduating, I landed my dream job with a custom home builder in the Twin Cities, collaborating with incredibly talented designers and skilled builders. This chapter of my career was both exciting and fulfilling! I was also actively involved in the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), expanding my professional network and continuing to grow in my field.
Though I loved city life, the charm of small-town living called me back. My husband and I were ready to build our future together, so we returned to Alexandria. Small-town design opportunities were limited, but I was determined to find my place. I gained further experience at a small, woman-owned design firm, reconnecting with tradespeople I had met during my lumber yard days—proof that relationships in this industry are everything.
Eager to broaden my expertise, I embraced a remote corporate role selling furnishings and more. While certain aspects were rewarding, I found myself craving a more hands-on creative experience. There were many sleepless nights filled with uncertainty—I wasn’t entirely happy in my job but felt “trapped” in a small town. As I explored opportunities to reignite my artistic passion, fate stepped in at just the right moment. A talent recruiter reached out with an unexpected yet exciting proposal: “While we think you’d be a great fit for the position you applied for, we may have something that aligns more with your design background.” That email led to an incredible collaboration with an accomplished interior designer seeking remote design assistance—an opportunity that perfectly matched my aspirations. Our complementary skills created a seamless partnership, and though our working relationship naturally evolved, the experience became another pivotal milestone in my journey.
While still working remotely, my husband and I welcomed our son last spring. The thought of putting him in daycare was difficult, so I juggled my job while caring for him at home. Then, life took another turn—the corporate restructuring eliminated my position. Instead of seeing it as a setback, I reached out to my network, and the response was overwhelming! Designers, builders, and friends had been reaching out for years, but now the demand for my expertise was stronger than ever.
Owning my own design business had always been a dream, but it once felt distant and uncertain. However, I already had the experience, the equipment, and the projects lined up—what was I waiting for? Just days after being laid off in December 2024, a conversation with my hairstylist, an independent business owner herself, sparked something in me. As I drove home that day, I felt a surge of inspiration. A few days later, I officially launched LundHaus Interiors!
Taking that leap was both exhilarating and a little scary, but I have never been more certain that the timing was right. I’ve learned that the right opportunities present themselves it’s their time. Trusting in the journey has led me to where I am today, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My design journey has been filled with valuable learning experiences that have shaped me into the designer I am today.
The interior design industry can feel overwhelming at times, but it’s also full of exciting opportunities! While entry-level positions can be limited in a competitive market, every challenge presents a chance to grow. Navigating client and contractor relationships, staying ahead of industry trends, managing fluctuating lead times and pricing, adapting to new technology, sourcing reliable vendors, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance are all part of the journey. Each of these hurdles has strengthened my skills and deepened my passion for design.
I believe that a closed door isn’t the end—it’s simply a redirection leading you to where you’re meant to be. Opportunities come at the right time, and there is always space for creativity, collaboration, and success. The design world thrives when we support and learn from one another, and I truly believe there’s room for everyone to grow and shine!
As you know, we’re big fans of LUNDHAUS Interiors. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in virtual interior design, offering services for short-term rentals, kitchens and bathrooms, new builds, and furniture selections. My goal is to make professional design accessible, no matter your location, space, or budget!
The process is simple and seamless. It begins with completing a new client intake form on my website, followed by a personalized consultation to discuss your project details. Clients then use a smartphone or tablet app to scan their space, providing accurate measurements that guide the entire design process. Once we establish a design direction through mood boards, we dive into the creative work!
Through a series of collaborative meetings and presentations, we refine the design, address questions, and ensure every detail aligns with your vision. After finalizing the design, you’ll receive a comprehensive package—including mood boards, floor plans, and specialty plans (covering cabinetry, countertops, electrical, tile, plumbing, flooring, and more applicable to your specific project)—delivered straight to your inbox. This allows you to execute the design at your own pace, on your own terms, and with your own preferred contractors/DIY.
Project timeline and investment vary based on scope, but my mission remains the same: to create beautiful, functional spaces that enhance your lifestyle. Working with a designer streamlines the process, maximizes your space, and helps you avoid costly mistakes—saving you both time and money while bringing your dream space to life!
