Hi Renda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a Minnesota farm kid at heart. Growing up, I learned that if something needs doing, you show up, work hard, and take care of the people around you. Those lessons stuck with me long before I became a firefighter and eventually started Renda The Roofer.
Firefighting taught me a lot about preparation, teamwork, and staying calm when things don’t go according to plan. It also reinforced something I already believed: people need someone they can trust when things go wrong. That’s a big part of how I approach this business today.
Renda The Roofer was built on the idea that homeowners deserve someone in their corner. We help people navigate repairs, restoration projects, and major home investments without having to figure everything out on their own. We do the legwork, help vet crews and solutions, and work to make sure our customers are getting the best value for their money.
We’re proud to be Minnesota-based and Minnesota-built. We live here, work here, and raise our families here. We care deeply about our communities and support organizations that promote positive mental health, youth development, and helping people through difficult times. We believe good teams make strong communities, whether that’s on a job site, a sports field, or in a neighborhood.
When we’re not working, you’ll usually find us spending time with family, at the lake during the summer, or playing broomball and pickleball with friends. We enjoy being part of the community we serve.
At the end of the day, our mission is pretty simple: protect homes, help people, and do quality work with quality people. We believe things should be built to last, and we believe taking care of your home—just like firefighting—starts with having a plan.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I don’t think any worthwhile business journey ever is.
As a Minnesota company, we’ve weathered our share of challenges—some literal and some figurative. This past winter was particularly difficult, and like many small business owners, we’ve had to navigate economic uncertainty, changing market conditions, and the day-to-day realities that come with running a growing company.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that no matter how hard you work or how much you care, you can’t be everything to everyone. We genuinely strive to provide the best experience possible for every customer, and we’re proud to have earned the trust of many homeowners and business owners throughout our community. At the same time, we’ve learned that we’re not always the right fit for every project or every person—and that’s okay.
What matters most is how you respond when challenges arise. We believe in listening, learning from mistakes, taking accountability, and doing our best to make things right when issues occur. Every experience, whether positive or difficult, has helped us improve our processes, strengthen our communication, and become a better company.
