Exploring Life & Business with Richard Lewis Jr. of Konscious Klan Entertainment

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Lewis Jr.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up, I’ve always been surrounded and influenced around music and started rapping and making beats at 7 & 8 years old. My mother was a music artist at one point and used to take me to the studio while she recorded and even let me do a hook on her song and after that, it pretty much planted the seed towards my future now. I didn’t start really taking music serious until the end of senior year of high school where I was pretty much at a point in my life where getting a scholarship for school or sports really wasn’t an option and felt like music would be something that I could advance myself to a serious level and after getting good feedback and reactions to my earlier music I knew it was something I could do seriously. And over the years I’ve been able to develop myself, my sound and even learn and pick up on new skills such as videography and audio engineering. I really never had any real role models or mentors so everything that I’ve learned came from experience and just trial and error.

But the beginning of 2020 is when I really buckled down and made the decision to really establish myself not only just as an artist but as a businessman and create something that will last and essentially better my life. So after getting the blueprint together I actually quit my job working as a delivery driver in order to focus on my business and by the will and grace of God I’ve been able to have consistent sales and clients and never really looked back.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely! Starting off I’d say the biggest obstacle was lack of information and resources especially being from Minnesota where it’s not a really known place for art or music the natural support from people to even give you a chance isn’t there compared to other cities with established scenes in my opinion. Plus it’s a very political and popularity based industry so finding and meeting people who genuinely want to see you win is rare. But finding and developing yourself as a creative is difficult because it requires a lot of patience a lot of hours, work, money and effort that people will never see or hear of and having the confidence and resilience to keep going when nothing seemed like it worked was another obstacle. Trying to get fans, views, shows while having no idea how to do it with no type of guidance on top of no one supporting and make you feel like you wouldn’t be anything is something I’m sure a lot of other artist have experienced as well.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Konscious Klan Entertainment?
To start, I am a self taught and established videographer, Producer, audio engineer and music artist. I offer services such as music videos, snippets, commercials. I own a beat store with over 75 beats available for purchase. I offer mix and mastering services and music that you can watch and stream on platforms. While also owning and operating an entertainment and promo page where I essentially spotlight different artist throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul while covering other successful artist around the country as well. In the city, I’m probably known as a videographer but outside of Minnesota people know me for my music and production.

What sets me apart from others is their not doing what I’m doing let alone maintaining, advancing and helping and supporting others along the way. I’ve proved that my services and products are legit and that I can compete and make money with anyone willing to work and invest in themselves. I don’t compete, I don’t envy let alone I’ve accomplished all of this without the help of anyone other than God and my grandmother. So unless you’re doing exactly what I’m doing and then some you not on my level. I’d say what I’m most proud of if just t amount of content and results I have been able to produce this year alone over 20 videos shot, 20k + on YouTube 200k + on SoundCloud with consistent clients it’s a blessing for real.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to me first is just making sure I’m doing God’s will before anything because without him I wouldn’t be able to accomplish anything. Second I’d say my relationships with family, friends, business associates and even myself. just making sure I keep myself in the most healthy and positive environment possible to grow. Finally, I’d say just being in a position where I’m financially stable to be able to provide for myself and my loved ones.
