Exploring Life & Business with Rick LaCanne of LaCanne Electric LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick LaCanne.

Hi Rick, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised at La Canne Century Farms in Faribault and continue to help there when possible. The continued satisfaction of hands-on work is what drew me into the Electrical program at Dunwoody Institute. After graduating Dunwoody I began my apprenticeship at Cedar View Electric of Lakeville, and then Bobs Electric in Faribault. While working at Bobs Electric I was able to gain my Journeyman and Masters licenses and gain experience in a variety of electrical settings. In 2014 my wife Beth and I started La Canne Electric LLC and its been a wild learning experience ever since. The electrical field is constantly evolving with new technologies ,safety requirements, and challenges every day that keep us all on our toes.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest challenge for us is scheduling. The old saying is that there’s only two questions you are asked at a jobsite “Are you done yet” and “Can you move your van out of the way” and that’s the case nearly every day. Minnesota weather tends to create several crunch times throughout the year, but our great team helps manage with longer days and weekends.

As you know, we’re big fans of LaCanne Electric LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
LaCanne Electric LLC focuses primarily on Residential, Agricultural, and Industrial Electrical Construction and Maintenance. Our agricultural upbringing is a solid foundation for all of our projects from grain handling and drying systems, nursery and finish pork facilities, to equine, dairy and beef facilities, We are heavily involved in many new and remodeled residential projects in southern Minnesota from bathrooms and basements to 10,000 sq ft new builds. We also offer industrial support for several municipalities and commercial facilities. Our well rounded experience helps us adjust to various projects and challenges.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
We have been blessed with great clients and employees.
Most of our projects are in southern Minnesota and we love the solid personalities we encounter every day.
Small town pride and great work ethic are the core of who we work with, and what we strive to accomplish.
