Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruhiah Ansari.
Hi Ruhiah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My parents had this love for sweet and they always used to get the best tasting cake for us siblings for our birthdays. We all used to watch the sugar rush show (2005 ) by Warren buffet at late night and were fascinated by it and one day my mom baked this amazing fruit cake at home in this little portable oven and god it was heavenly. We migrated to the US in 2010 and here It blew my mind, all stores had a variety of baking supplies and I fell in love, the amount of baking items I have is insane- made my first fruit cake at my grandma’s home and everyone loved it.
I used to work full time night shift and used to bake for my family on weekends for fun. As time went on I got married and had my beautiful little daughter, decided to be a stay home mother and continued baking as a hobby.
One day my siblings suggested why don’t you do it as a business and I can work when I like at my convenience and hence began the journey of Noontreats. Youtube was/ has been my biggest guide, kept practicing new design techniques on the cake as the proverb goes practice makes a man perfect.
Noontreats main focus is always the flavors and then cake designing, even though I started with dessert cups but eventually My love for cake decorating grew.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It would be a lie if I said it was smooth, definitely struggled a lot. Managing housework, spending time with family, mommy duties(but my daughter was the most easy-going kid I have ever seen – truly blessed to have her in my life). Over time i developed a schedule/routine things fell into places. Also, I still learn something new everyday.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Noon Treats?
Noon Treats is known for delicious and beautiful cakes and desserts. My clients mostly leave the designing and styling of cakes and desserts on me and that’s the part I love the most (the trust between me and my client makes me work more harder). There’s this one particular phrase majority of my clients or people who message me mention is “my cakes are aesthetically pleasing/ or immaculate.”
This was very surprising to me in the beginning and made me very happy.
Every review at the end of the day takes all that tiredness and stress away..
I keep developing new flavors as I go and have few up my sleeve. My friends and randomly chosen regular clients are my taste testers. I occasionally drop off a few desserts for the teachers at my daughter’s school as little appreciation for their hard work in these hard times.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success for me is definitely getting recognized and receiving positive feedback for my work from my clients and fellow bakers. It makes me more happy to see fellow bakers from around the world taking inspiration from my work- thanks to social media.
