Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Christenson.
Hi Ryan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Baseball has been a constant thread in my life since my playing days in high school and college, where I learned the value of discipline, leadership, and teamwork. After earning my degree in education and spending 20 years in education, I began blending my background in teaching with my passion for baseball. I started coaching at the high school and collegiate levels, eventually becoming a Regional Director for the National Pitching Association.
That experience opened my eyes to how science, biomechanics, and individualized training could transform a pitcher’s development. In 2013, I launched Precision Pitching as a way to provide athletes with a structured, science-based program that goes far beyond traditional lessons. What began as small private sessions has grown into a full training business with a facility in Red Wing, a remote training platform that connects me with athletes across the country, and partnerships that allow me to keep evolving how I serve athletes.
At its core, my story has been about helping athletes not just throw harder or win games, but develop confidence, accountability, and resilience that carry over into life. Precision Pitching is the product of my lifelong commitment to teaching and coaching, and I’m proud of how far it has come.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building Precision Pitching meant balancing my full-time role as a teacher with launching a business from the ground up, often putting in long nights and weekends. Like many small business owners, I faced challenges with resources, time, and finding ways to stand out in a competitive baseball training market. On top of that, the pandemic created setbacks just as I was gaining momentum.
But those struggles also shaped the foundation of Precision Pitching. They forced me to be creative, lean into technology like remote training platforms, and stay committed to the idea that quality instruction and a family-like culture would separate us from the rest. Looking back, the challenges weren’t roadblocks—they were turning points that pushed me to grow.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Precision Pitching?
Precision Pitching is a year-round baseball training company that specializes in pitcher development both in-person at our Red Wing facility and remotely with athletes nationwide. We’re known for combining advanced technology—biomechanics, ArmCare testing, Rapsodo data, and video analysis—with individualized programming that keeps pitchers healthy while maximizing performance.
What sets us apart is our holistic approach: athletes don’t just get a bullpen, they get a plan. Every program includes warm-up, mechanical drills, pitch design, velocity development, and recovery systems. Families choose us because we deliver measurable results and provide consistent accountability between sessions.
Brand-wise, we’re most proud of creating a true baseball community. Whether in the facility or online, Precision Pitching athletes know they’re part of a culture built on development, hard work, and support. Our mission is simple: give pitchers every tool they need to succeed—on the mound and in life.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m a big believer in being a lifelong learner, and I draw a lot of inspiration from books and apps that fuel both my personal growth and the growth of Precision Pitching. Building a Million-Dollar Arm by Tom House has been foundational—it not only reinforced my passion for science-based pitching but also showed how the right process can unlock incredible potential. I also love The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon for its powerful lessons on positivity, teamwork, and leadership—principles I try to bring into every training session and business decision.
On the tech side, I spend time on the MasterClass app, watching anything related to leadership, business, or marketing. It’s been a great way to learn directly from world-class leaders and apply those insights to running and expanding Precision Pitching. These resources keep me grounded, motivated, and constantly looking for ways to improve.
