Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharice Brady PT, DPT.
Hi Sharice, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in a small town in Iowa where sports were a year-round constant. With that came a long list of injuries — repetitive ankle sprains, muscle tears, and a separated collarbone- just to name a few. Physical therapy became part of my routine early on, but I remember feeling disconnected from the process. I was given exercises and followed them, but I was never taught why they mattered. Without understanding the purpose behind what I was doing, it was hard to stay engaged. I didn’t fully buy in, my effort wavered, and ultimately I experienced reinjury. That cycle was frustrating — and formative.
As an undergraduate at Iowa State University, I became a certified personal trainer and worked with the on campus recreation services and discovered how much I loved working with people beyond the lens of injury alone. I began to see health and performance as a continuum — not isolated problems to “fix”, but systems to build.
During my doctoral training at University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, I noticed the same gap I experienced years earlier. Many patients were still moving through a one-size-fits-all rehab model with limited education and little connection between recovery and long-term performance. The transition back to sport or activity often lacked intention, progression, and clarity.
I realized that if I had understood the purpose behind each step of my own rehab, I would have approached it differently — with more focus, more ownership, and likely fewer setbacks. That insight became the foundation for Paradigm.
Paradigm was built to offer a higher standard of physical therapy for athletes and active individuals. It’s not high-volume, protocol-driven rehab. It’s a personalized, one-on-one experience designed to bridge the gap between rehabilitation, performance, and long-term resilience — so people don’t just recover, they return stronger and more capable than before.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — and in many ways, that’s still true today. Building a business from the ground up is an ongoing process of learning, adapting, and refining. Doctor of Physical Therapy programs prepare you to care for patients, but they don’t teach you how to build systems, lead a brand, manage operations, or make the countless decisions that come with running a company. I started Paradigm from scratch, learning in real time through trial, error, mentorship, and a lot of persistence.
One of the biggest challenges has been balancing vision with sustainability — staying committed to an individualized model of care in a healthcare landscape that often rewards volume and speed. Choosing to do things differently requires dedication.
At the same time, the journey has been shaped by meaningful support from the community around me. I’m incredibly grateful to the team at Southside Athletic for opening their space to Paradigm clients. Having access to an environment where people can truly move — jump, run, lift, and train — allows the rehab experience to be immersive and performance-driven rather than limited to a traditional clinical setting.
Entrepreneurship continues to challenge me in the best ways. Every obstacle has pushed me to grow as a clinician, a leader, and a business owner — and that evolution is very much still in progress (and probably always will be!).
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Paradigm Performance Physical Therapy ?
Paradigm Performance Physical Therapy is an out-of-network/cash-based practice that offers performance-driven rehab for athletes and active individuals who want more than symptom relief — they want clarity, progression, and long-term resilience.
I’m the owner and physical therapist of Paradigm – specialize in one-on-one, individualized care that bridges the gap between rehabilitation and performance. That means every plan is built around the person in front of me: their sport, their goals, their injury history, and the demands of their lifestyle. Sessions are never rushed or cookie-cutter protocol driven. Clients receive education on the why behind every decision so they understand their body, their recovery process, and how to move forward with confidence.
What sets Paradigm apart is the environment and philosophy. Rehabilitation doesn’t happen in isolation — it happens through movement that reflects real life and real sport. Care is collaborative, data-informed, and rooted in long-term development rather than quick fixes.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Paradigm has become synonymous with intention. From the client experience to program design, everything is built to be personal, transparent, and empowering.
What I want readers to know is simple: Paradigm exists for those who want a higher standard of care. Whether recovering from injury, returning to sport, or building durability for the future, my goal is to help people move with purpose and perform with confidence for the long haul.
How do you think about luck?
I experienced my fair share of “bad luck” with injuries. At the time, it felt discouraging and unfair, but looking back, those experiences shaped my perspective and sparked my passion for improving the way people recover and understand their bodies. Without those setbacks, Paradigm probably wouldn’t exist.
On the “good luck” side, I’ve been fortunate to have incredible support along the way — mentors, colleagues, and organizations that opened doors I couldn’t have imagined navigating alone.
