Exploring Life & Business with Susan Mitchell of Pawzitive Outcomes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Mitchell.

Susan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was in the corporate world for 31 years and after multiple mergers and overlap with departments, my job was eliminated in 2019. At that time my husband had already been retired and told me to just not work, so I was able to do that for a couple weeks but then got bored. That’s when my husband suggested that I should do my job of passion. I then decided to go to college to become a Dog Trainer and after I graduated I started my own business. My business model is that I go to my clients home and train them with their dog in their own environment on all the commands, behaviors or anything else they may need. I train puppies and dogs of all ages, no dog is too old for training.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Initially I was only getting traction through Nextdoor, however I had a client who wanted to help me with my business and created a Google page for me which helped my business tremendously.
Now that everyone is back at work my business has slowed down and unfortunately I can’t afford marketing.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I come to your home and provide one on one training with your family and dog.
I’m a certified dog trainer, which means I went to college to learn all about dogs; from breeds, behaviors, CPR and training.
I cover all the basic training commands that includes:
Sit, come, target, down, wait, leave it, off, heel, drop it, roll over, and shake.  Plus anything additional you need…such as potty training, biting, jumping, fetch or walking heel on leash.
I work days, evenings and weekends, so can accommodate your schedule.
