Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Sparrow.
Tamara, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Like a lot of people in this industry, I didn’t set out to have a career in jewelry…I just sort of fell into it. I took a job as an office manager at a corporate jewelry store, thinking it would only be for a few months. But here I am, almost 20 years later, still in the industry I love.
After six years in the corporate world, I knew I wanted to stay in jewelry, but I also wanted a place where I could grow, connect, and spread my wings. The first time I walked into Landmark Jewelers, I instantly fell in love. There was something so special about the atmosphere, the history, and most of all, the loyalty and warmth of the clients. I felt at home right away.
In 2022, the previous owner asked me if I would ever consider purchasing Landmark. My first reaction was “absolutely not.” I told myself I had no business running a business. But then life handed me some challenges that forced me to step back and really reflect. I realized that you’re never truly “ready” for big, scary, life-changing opportunities. Sometimes you just have to dive in and trust yourself to figure it out along the way.
So, in 2023, I took the leap and purchased Landmark Jewelers. Since then, it’s been like trading in a ride I knew by heart for an entirely new one…every twist and turn is unexpected. It’s been wild, challenging, exciting, and more rewarding than I ever imagined. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I have no regrets!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s probably no surprise that my answer to this question is…no, it hasn’t been a smooth ride lol. At times, it has felt like driving on uncharted roads, in the dark, during a storm. But I think that’s true not only when you’re starting out on a new adventure, but also whenever you’re in the process of growing and expanding your business. And that’s exactly where we are now with Landmark.
In the beginning, I didn’t have a clear sense of our North Star…the guiding purpose behind our business. Without that, decision-making was tough, and it often felt like we were navigating in the dark.
Since then, I’ve been incredibly blessed with amazing people and partnerships who have come alongside Landmark. Together, we’ve taken the time to define our North Star, and it now guides every decision we make and shapes how we connect with our clients. The journey still isn’t “smooth,” but having that light has made all the difference, it helps us weather storms, embrace growth, and keep moving forward with confidence.
