Today we’d like to introduce you to Bjorn Willms and Luke Berthiaume. They and their team shared their story with us below:
In 2019, Bjorn began making soap products in his home kitchen. And in 2022, he brought in Luke, his friend since childhood, to participate in the process. Together, they have created Bergliot Care Products, making fine-quality soap, candles, and other skin care items. Only natural ingredients are used to make the soaps.
Everything, including the packaging for their products, is made by Bjorn and Luke using recyclable materials as much as possible. They soon expanded their selection to include candles, balms, and other products, all made with the same dedication to honesty and quality. As for the name of the company, it is the Norwegian middle name of Bjorn’s grandmother and means “Light of Salvation.”
We now have our products in multiple stores, sold our goods in multiple states, participated in different events, and are a growing business.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It has been a learning experience for us. Since this is something we do in addition to our regular full-time jobs, it can be challenging. We have had to learn about taxes and the business side of things along the way.
Whether negotiating prices with vendors, connecting with customers online, or registering for markets and events, it has been a lot to take in. It is a rewarding effort to know that we can connect with people and provide them with something useful we have made.

Bjorn and Luke are the creators of Bergliot Care Products’ handmade soap and candles. Based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, these skilled craftsmen pour their expertise into every batch they create.
For our soaps, we select premium ingredients, including nourishing oils, butter, and essential oils. The soaps are handmade in small batches with unique fragrant combinations and natural exfoliants. Some combinations include lemongrass and poppy seed, lavender and coffee, & black tea and citrus.
Our candles are made with high-quality soy wax and natural fragrance oils. Some of our best candles include honey & maple and our Nordic pine. In addition, we do all of the packaging and design of our labels and packaging.
