Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Suda.
Hi Amy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Being in mostly medical dermatology prior to 2019, I have always been interested in skin & aesthetic medicine and have had experience in both. Deep down, I knew I wanted to open my own dermatology & aesthetics practice. In 2019, the stars aligned when Lisa Schuster became available – she has a vast background in events & marketing and knew I needed her to make this work. We sat down (in Lisa’s dining room) and meshed our visions and Skin Rehab was born.
Fast forward a bit through the challenging process of opening your own business, the building renovations, business plans, logo & brand development, late nights, and early mornings – we finally open in May of 2020. My focus for Skin Rehab has always been on professionalism and authentic dermatology & aesthetic care. We are real. We want you to feel comfortable here, be able to ask the questions and truly enjoy your time here. With my vision and Lisa’s creativity, events, and attention to “all the right” detail has given us the growth we desire.
And of course, growth couldn’t happen with our amazing & loyal clients! Skin Rehab Dermatology & Aesthetics is located in a town of about 4100 people. Quite small, compared to the location of other medspas. Our clients are GREAT! They make our days & jobs fun.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If it were easy, everyone would do it. Right? Skin Rehab opened on May 5, 2020, right in the middle of Covid, which we all know was a difficult year for everyone. Finding the right fit with staff was also a hurdle and is something that I think every business should be aware of. It takes time to find a team that just “works”. Although we didn’t have more than a couple of applicants when opening, within a year we double our applicants. We now have our fabulous Aesthetician Kelsie Torgerson, who provides all our spa like services that clients desire! The last couple summers, Skin Rehab was lucky to have Halle Keney intern with us – she has been a great addition to our team and we will be sad to lose her when she goes off to college this fall!

Skin Rehab is a dermatology clinic and medspa located in rural North Dakota! Small town style. We like to say we have high-end service with a hometown feel. Once you walk into Skin Rehab, you will know. Of course, Dermatology is a big part of Skin Rehab – some clinics you wait months to see a provider but not at Skin Rehab. We pride ourselves on being able to get patients in, in a timely manner. Can’t get in at another clinic, give us a call 701.379.0140! Some of our most popular aesthetic services are of course, your neurotoxins (Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport), dermal fillers, dermaplaning and HydraFacials! Can’t decide what you want/need? We offer free aesthetic consults with both myself and Kelsie.
Events. We plan the BEST events. Lisa brings in horse-drawn carriage rides for ladies night in December, we do parties on the street with our favorite vendors, we do VIP skincare nights, golf tournaments and MORE! We aim to do something monthly, so stay tuned into our website, Facebook & IG!
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Over the years, I have done a lot of personal growth and have learned from authors such as John Maxwell and Simon Sinek but the majority of really grounds me and keeps me humble is my faith. It keeps me focused on the right things.
When we opened Skin Rehab, we opened as a direct pay dermatology practice meaning we didn’t accept insurance. As with any business, sometimes you must pivot! So, beginning June 1 we can bill insurance for your dermatology visits. Yay! It’s a huge hurdle for us and exciting for our patients!
