Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Westling.
Hi Angie , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2015 I was a working at another business in town and was unhappy with the lack of flexibility. I was talking to my friend’s mom, who happened to own a real estate company, and she said she was looking for an office manager. After some negotiation, we came up with a wage that I could afford to leave my previous job and start working for her at Anderson Realty. Once I started working there, Maryel, the broker/owner/friend, suggested I get my license so I was able to help customers better. Once I got my real estate license, I fell in love! I loved helping customers find the home of their dreams and help people sell their homes to move onto their next chapter. 2019 Maryel retired and sold the business to me! I renamed it Hometown Realty and have been going strong ever since!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest struggles I have had was Covid. No one could have prepared for Covid! We, as Realtors, had to learn a new way of doing everything! We had to figure out virtual and had to figure it out fast! Most of my Realtors are young and technologically smart so we were able to figure out the best way to help our customers and clients in the best way for them.
As you know, we’re big fans of Hometown Realty. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Hometown Realty is a real estate company in Thief River Falls. We are well known for our bright yellow sale signs! We have 7 agents and are an all-female business! We pride ourselves on being honest. We are not going to tell a potential seller an unrealistic price just to get a listing, we feel that our sellers and buyers need to hear the truth, even if it isn’t what they want to hear.
Hometown Realty is also known for helping the community. During Covid we made teacher boxes and gave to all teachers in Thief River Falls, Viking, Newfolden and Warren schools. We made up Christmas gifts for parents to pick up and give to their children. We gave away back packs full of school supplies to families who needed them. This is just a few things we have done for our community.
When you walk into our office, you will see many awards. We have won awards as a business as well as individual agents. Hometown Realty holds our agents to a certain standard and I am proud to say all the women who work here live up to that standard without any problem.
