Hidden Gems: Meet Carrie White of Carrie White Agency Country Financial

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carrie White.

Hi Carrie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was a Certified Veterinary Technician for almost 10 years when I had finally decided I needed a career change as I was feeling very stuck. I felt as if I did not have anything more to work towards in my current career especially in a smaller town. My insurance career all started when an old colleague mentioned her new boss was looking for a new licensed insurance agent and at first I laughed at her as I told myself I would never work in an office. Than covid hit and my whole life felt different and I had more time to think about the future for myself and my 2 little girls. I called her up and said I would love the opportunity. I got my property and casualty license and worked with them for about 1 year. I had quit there and within a month I found a new opportunity where I could open my own insurance agency and have my own business. At first it sounded a bit crazy but I knew I needed to do it because at this point I felt like everything was happening for a reason. I got my life and health insurance license so I would be ready to open my agency and help people with all lines of insurance. I have always enjoyed helping people and being in vet med allowed me to do that but in insurance you are able to help people in a much larger and impactful way. You are talking about their lively hood, family, and retirement. I am proud to be an insurance agent and have my own business even if it has been a lot of hard work.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a bit of a bumpy road. When you take a new agency and your building it from scratch, and you have never owned your own business before, it is a bit of a struggle to get it going in the right direction. Building the clientele has been more work than I had expected and the main reason for that is because the company I work under is not as well known in our area. I am having to build a brand, get my agency and my name known. It has been a bumpy road but it has been well worth it! I am able to spend more time with my two little girls and be there for their school events that I typically would miss due to work. It has not only allowed me to help the people of our communities but has given me a better life with my family.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am here to protect the community I live in and anyone in Minnesota or Wisconsin. I offer help with home, auto, life, and business insurance and I am proud to do so. I can also help with Farm insurance which is what we specialize in with Country Financial Insurance. No farm is too big or too small for us. We also have a very competitive small business plan which I love because I am able to help small business owners like myself both save money and be well insured in case anything happens. My goal is to be there for my clients like they are my own family and take care of them. If your house burns down I want to be there to help and make sure they are more than taken care of. I have big dreams and I am hoping to grow my agency in the next year and add additional agencies in other states as well.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I have learned that even when you think your working hard your not working hard enough. Owning your own business is more work than I had realized and it takes a lot of self discipline in order to keep my business growing and continue to offer my help to more and more people in the community.
