Hi Carson, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Cleaning windows wasn’t what I dreamed about as a kid by any means. However, one of my best friends asked me to come work with him almost 5 years ago and it was the best decision I ever made.
I started learning and practicing the trade every day, and at first it wasn’t easy- I was terrified of heights, and would literally shake on the ladder. I don’t know if it was pride, spite, or the shame that would come with giving up, but I kept at it. After about a year I was well versed in cleaning siding, roofs, gutters, windows, concrete & more, but after two years I was an expert. I spent my free time reading forums, and asking questions daily to those who have been in the trade 15+ years. Learning from those who came before me I became a specialist that can clean it all. Iron stains, oil stains, graffiti, oxidation, efflorescence- I’ve seen it, and cleaned it.
In my second year of working there I developed an insatiable ambition. I wanted to bring perfect results to more people, so after cleaning all day- I would go hand out flyers after my route.
That quickly snowballed into me being the senior territory manager for the company, which was an incredible experience. I was able to think outside the box while working with businesses, property managers, charities, realtors, home owners, and others to take care of what they need, when they needed it. The only thing I didn’t love, was that more people couldn’t experience it, which led me to starting Glass House Window Cleaning & Seasonal Services.
Home services have gotten EXPENSIVE, and I’m here to change that narrative. I firmly believe that clean windows & a clean space dramatically improve quality of life for Minnesotans especially. With our long, and dark winters, we miss out on a ton of sunlight already. Clean windows bring more light into your home, brightening up your space- making it feel more open, along with bringing in some extra vitamins.
Which is why I want to make it more accessible for my fellow Minnesotan neighbors.
My Grandma’s home is less than 2,000 square feet. She recently got a quote to have her gutters cleaned, siding washed, along with the interior & exterior windows, screens, and tracks.
The quote she got was over $1,300. I offer the same package with more included for $649.
Since I work as an owner operated business, and only have one van, one set of equipment- I have reduced overhead. Instead of charging premium rates, I find much more fulfillment in taking care of the people that help take care of me. My goal is to make my neighbors dollar go further so they can enjoy their home, and investment- while saving their body & time for the things they love.
Which leads me to today, I’ve been in business now for almost 6 months, and it has been incredible. Being able to go the extra mile while connecting with others, and giving them the time and care they deserve is a luxury I have as an owner operated business, which I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Those who have worked with me have made remarks about the light I’ve brought them, but the overwhelming support, and kindness I’ve experienced is a light far greater. I could never express my appreciation enough, but it really does mean the world to me!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting out was tough, I had limited funds and ended up spending most of it on equipment, then buying a beat up Ford Ranger for $3,000. Spoiler alert: it had undisclosed frame damage and started overheating so it had to be scrapped a month later. I learned my lesson and invested the money I had made from cleaning into a new to me van, which should last me many many years. If I kept going about other bumps in the road, you’d be here all day- it just goes to show that there’s always going to be an obstacle. The important thing is to roll with the punches, and keep pushing. Often times I look back at challenges I’ve faced and think about the memories, and people that I would’ve missed out on experiencing if I had quit, and that alone is enough to keep me up at night.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
One major reason as to why I started glass house window. Cleaning was my grandfather. My grandpa has always been a kind, humble and hard-working man and from a young age he always told me if you had a good product. You were honest with people and the price was right there was no reason anyone would go elsewhere. See my grandpa actually owned his own business back in the day and the way he treated people not only allowed him to build a successful business, but it was truly successful to me because growing up I’ve seen the people that my grandpa worked with and the people he hired Continue to surround him in his life and through his retirement they go fishing they play cards they go to dinner they spend time together, and it all came down to how he treated people my entire life. I’ve looked up to that and felt a sense of pride because of what my grandfather built And how he carried himself and how much he helped others when I wanted to start my business I turned to him, and I asked for his guidance along with my grandmother. Those two together are a team like no other, and they were instrumental to my success in the beginning They helped me fabricate things for my van to make workflow easier. They helped look over my business plan with a second set of eyes, they recommended a good attorney, the list goes on and on because I talk to them almost every day I could never express my gratitude enough for not only them, but my parents, my other family members, my friends, and all of those that I’ve learned from my life would be nowhere near as fulfilling as it is, without any of the people I’ve met, and been fortunate enough to be surrounded by.
